I am currently in 9th grade, but for the second time. During my first year of 9th grade, I struggled with a bout of depression for several months which ultimately led to a lack of work ethic in school and failing my freshman year. Now in my second try at 9th grade, I have all A’s aside from my Alg. 2 grade which is an 89% (almost an A!) and a GPA of 94%. What do you guys think my chances are at NYU if I continued to earn these grades, besides my first year?
If you maintain a GPA in the 90s, earn a good SAT or ACT score (around 1400 or 30, respectively), and do valuable EC’s, you have a good chance of getting into NYU. That said, you are only a freshman, and all of this is hypothetical. For now, enjoy high school and do your best. It is much too early to be asking for your chances.
Without SAT or ACT scores and a GPA from freshman-junior year, no one is going to be able to chance you to the most accurate of their abilities right now, but keep up the good work! It also depends on what major you’re applying for (Stern, for example, is extremely competitive and typically needs higher stats). That being said, there are SO many factors that go into college admissions (extracurriculars, essays, etc.) and it can be really difficult to predict. Enjoy high school while you can – it goes by really quickly haha. Best of luck to you
