Other Info:
I am cuban and neither of my parents attended college, making me a first-generation college applicant.
My essays are pretty good.

I would have accepted u in a heartbeat. Colleges look for well rounded people and u are certainly that

YOu have a decent chance at Stanford. Great scores and ECs. Wish you all the best - but remember to have some safeties.

CHance me?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1606501-help-me-predict-am-i-doomed-enter-community-college-have-gap-year.html

Thank you. Does being a first-generation Cuban actually help as much as everyone seems to think? Is it actually a hook?

Yes, being a first-generation American born citizen is a massive hook. That’s what I am as well. BTW you have a great chance for Stanford.

you got a good chance

I bet you could get in

You have a far better chance than the average applicant.

I’d agree with immasenior. You have a better chance than most, which is something that very little people can say. I’d be a little surprised if you didn’t get in, but as you know, the acceptance rate is really low and admissions is unpredictable. Good luck!

I think you’ve got a really good chance of getting in. But Stanford’s been rejecting a lot of the top students at my school (including a person we were all quite certain would get in), so best of luck to you! I really think that you have a good chance though.

Thanks everyone. My main concern is that the admissions department won’t find me notably unique or exciting i.e. I didn’t build a particle accelerator in my garage nor a school in an impoverished city. I obviously don’t know everything about how college admissions works, so can someone please help me get a better idea as to what a Stanford admissions officer would think reading my application. Am I just another kid with all A’s and a 2310 that they’ll disregard?

Bump, please help me!

I definitely feel that you have the credentials to get in… but then again everyone who does get in has good creds. I think the main thing that you need to have in your app is something that stands out and makes them look at your app in a different light. Usually this is done through the uniqueness of the essays. I mean you say your essays are good but have other people read them and have they also shared the same responses? If you can get an interview then you can show them a little bit about you. Also, I recently learned from my interview with Duke that although the general belief is that colleges want well rounded students… the truth is that they actually want a well rounded class. This means they are looking for a star athlete, star math kid, star english kid etc… so if you were able to project something of the sorts with your application then you would definitiely have a great chance. But honestly i wouldnt get your hopes up too high because stanford is exceptionally… exceptionally difficult to get into… I know friends who had 2350+'s on their SAT top 10 ranks out of class sizes of 1300+ with great ec’s (siemens semifinalists in scifair) who didn’t make it… so ya…
