Here is my student profile:

GPA: 3.88

When I will apply for the application, I will only will have completed three AP classes, one is a confirmed 5, and I think I got a 5 on another one, and a 4 on the last, but I am still waiting for this years scores. I'll take three more AP's next year, and so I'll graduate with six. Oh, and some honors classes in there too.

Extracurricular Activities: Sophomore Class Treasurer, ASB Activities Director, ASB President, varsity speech and debate, 2 years of track and field, 1 year of cross country (my sports are weak due to a torn Achilles tendon-and yes, I know that is just an excuse) various community service projects, 2011 bond committee co-chairman for my school district, church employment committee member.

My most distinguishable part of my life is that after running away from an abusive home which had drugs and alcohol, I co-founded a pretty successful technological company, although it only really covered my most basic necessities, as I was moving around a lot from place to place (I am a McKinnely-Vento Act student), and I have had to be independent economically while trying to run a company and maintain academics at the same time.

The worst part of my application is going to be my test scores (ugh!!), which happened to be at the time where I had to check my mother into a mental health institution, but I don't think the colleges will care about excuses, which I admit that it is, but I still should have focused more, and performed better.

SAT scores are as follows:
overall: 1820 (ugh)
Math: 530 (fml)
CR: 620 (mediocre)
Writing: 670 (mediocre)

ACT scores are as follows:
Composite: 27
English: 29
Math: 22
Reading: 32
Science: 23
Combined English/Writing: 29

SAT 2:
U.S. History: 760

I will only be able to take the ACT one more time to meet the deadline. I should have taken these tests earlier in the year, but money is tight, even with financial aid options.

I am also a pretty strong writer, and if I go all out, I should do well on the essays.

Oh, and I won the Prep Scholarship to UPenn's Leadership in the Business World program, if that can be used as any sort of indicator.

So, I think I have an okay shot at becoming a finalist, but for the actual match, I doubt if I should put Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, etc. as one of the eight, and instead focus on the less competitive schools due to my horrible test scores.

What do you guy's think?
