<p>Yes, most of this is straight copied from my post a while ago. But it's a different question.</p>

<p>Here's my list of colleges that I'm applying to with Questbridge:
Amherst
Oberlin
Princeton
Swarthmore
Williams</p>

<p>Stats:
GPA: 4.6 weighted, 4.0 unweighted, ranked #1 in class
ACT: 36
SAT: 800 Math, 780 Reading, 760 Writing
PSAT (taken twice): 239, 235; in that order
AP scores so far: All 5's (World History, US History, Statistics, Chemistry)</p>

<p>Classes this year:
AP English
AP Government
Latin II
AP Biology
Discrete Math
AP Calculus BC
Base Pair (a selective program offered by my school and the nearby hospital, allowing for hands-on biomedical research instruction, with a mentor who works at the hospital)</p>

<p>EC's:
Mu Alpha Theta 9-12 (President this year)
National Honor Society 11-12 (VP of Membership this year)
Technology Student Association 9, 11-12 (Sergeant-at-Arms)
Academic Decathlon 11-12
Model UN 10-12
Choir 10-12
4 years Piano Lessons</p>

<p>Hopefully National Merit Finalist, I know I'm a Semi at least
AP Scholar with Honor, so far
Various Mu Alpha Theta state awards (2nd in my category two years in a row, I think)
Outstanding Delegate and Outstanding Country Representation at Model UN last year
A few gold medals in AcaDec last year</p>

<p>My teacher recs will be superb, all the teachers like me a lot.
My essays were good, I made sure to have each of them teacher-evaluated.</p>

<p>Basically, I'm asking what my chances are that
A. I'll become a Questbridge finalist, and
B. One of the schools will match with me (I'll probably rank them Amherst, Swat, Princeton, Oberlin, Williams).</p>

<p>I should probably mention, I'm from an urban high school in Jackson, Mississippi, and my family's income is between $40,000 and $50,000...I'm not sure exactly where in that range though.</p>

<p>hm. i got owned. i also applied with questbridge. not even half as good as you are.</p>

<p>i think you have good chances at all schools except for princeton. for princeton.......you definitely have chance, but as you probably know the harvard/princeton/yale is known to reject perfect sutdents</p>

<p>i will post my finalized stats sometime soon, but i am applying for stanford (1st choice), stanford, columbia, williams... yea. now i know i made a mistake :) </p>

<p>I don't know anything about questbridge...except that I know someone who got into Amhearst through it. He was a friend from HS and I am pretty sure his stats were lower than yours. </p>

<p>That class is a long story...it didn't exist two years ago. The teacher who teaches advanced 10th grade math started it last year, because she really wanted to teach some of the juniors and seniors that were really good, and the students really wanted to take another class from her, because she is just awesome and everybody loves her. I didn't get to take it last year, because it conflicted with AP Stats, so I'm taking it this year.</p>

<p>I don't think you made a mistake, you never know what will happen. There were a lot fewer completed applications than I thought there would be.</p>

<p>thx....yea I KNOW...only 3300?? it seems everyone at my school knows about it. well they said they were drastically increasing the number of finalists, so it seems pretty easy to be a finalist.</p>

<p>I think a lot of the people were scared away by the 4/5/however many essays. I know some of my friends were.</p>

<p>Where did you hear they were increasing the number of finalists? Because that's pretty sweet...heh.</p>

<p>For my asian (hmmmm) daughter chances as a quesrbridge scholar? Family income for this year will be below 60,000 limit.</p>

<p>SAT 1: 800M/800V/720 W</p>

<p>SAT II: 800 Physics, 800 Math II, 800 US</p>

<p>APs: BC Calculus, European History, Chemistry, Physics C, US history, World History - all 5.</p>

<p>Other courses: Multivariable calculus, Linear algebra, Dicrete math and game theory, scince reserach beyond scince APs.</p>

<p>Next year: International Relation, AP French, Micro and Macro, Government, Language and other school required courses.</p>

<p>GPA: top 10% very tough course load, competitive school that does not rank. Many students from the school matriculate at Ivy League colleges each year.</p>

<p>Activities: Debate – best record and many tournaments win; Model UN - Best Model UN Delegate award; Volunteer work, Choir, science research, newspaper and politics - Major leadership in ecah activitty at a very elite private school. </p>

<p>National Competitions: Winner of two national essay competition and finalist in other essay competitions. National Leadership award finalist in Volunteer work, NMS (235), Girl Scout Highest awards, other national level recognizition for volunteer work. </p>

<p>Summer activities: Research Science Institute (RSI), some other competitive summer programs.</p>

<p>Currently attends a prep school as a full financil aid award of more than >30,000 ecah year of HS.</p>

<p>She doesn't need Questbridge. She has it all and should get into one or more of HYPMS if that's what she wants. It would be interesting to see if they take her. My impression is that they're trying to help kids who never heard of RSI or elite private schools.</p>

<p>Well let us see. The reason she applied questbridge beacuse she needs financail aid. Last year a girl "finale" applied as she attended a northeast elite boarding prep school and attended TASP program. They gave the questbridge finalist award to her. She was an asian Indian background. We are hoping that questbridge give my kid similar consideration. However, it could change if all other applicant are better qualified kid and have similar level awrds. In that case if a kid whose income is even lower than our family, may have a better chance too. At this point we can be only postive and hope a non biased view from the questbridge.</p>

<p>How ould she get any more aid through Questbridge than through those schools? She should be close to a full ride below $60K and getting close a full ride at a prep.</p>
