I would either be applying to study journalism or international studies. Are there any other school recommendations that would be matches or low reaches? What about extra curricular recommendations?

Add American U to the list:)
Thank you!

You have a solid chance at NYU and boston college, but The university of Chicago is definitely a reach. It’s great that you have so many ecs related to the one field that you are looking to study, but there seems to be a lack of leadership roles (besides editor and chief of school newspaper). Also I think your ecs overall are fine but if you want, you can broaden the types of ecs (ie debate) to show colleges that you have considered other possible alternatives.

Also, add GWU to the list! Hope I helped :)

Thank you so much! We actually have a debate team at my school so I will definitely look into that.

Bu uconn American- match
NYU- low reach
U of Chicago- reach

might add some LAC’s like Holy Cross or Bowdoin. Holy Cross has great English program and nice campus 1 hour from Boston.

Pretty much all those schools seem like a reasonable chance of getting in, except for UChicago, which is a reach. UChicago is definitely very competitive, and like stated above, the lack of leadership and/or variety in ECs may hurt you.
