Obviously, I screwed up my first semester junior year which puts me at a huge disadvantage (because of some family problems that affected my grades), but things got better and I pulled my grades up second semester.

What are my chances at: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI & UCSB?

Also, is the one C in precalc totally going to throw me off and give me no hope at all for getting into UCLA (my dream school?)

I’m really scared because I’ve wanted to go to UCLA for the longest time ever and now im worried if I can get into Irvine… my sophomore year I thought it would be possible but after first semester junior year I know I’m at a huge disadvantage. I worked my butt off second semester and pulled a 3.833 but who knows…

Any tips? Do you guys think if my personal statements are extremely good it will give some leeway on my app?

Thanks

I would retake the ACT and try to get a 34+. It’s only two points, but it can make a big difference when you’re up against people with a 3.8 GPA.

I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble getting into some of the lower-tier UCs, and your ECs/essays may be good enough to pull you into the UCLA range. It’s a tossup though. What’s your planned major? If its a STEM major, just know that those majors are severely impacted right now and thus will be more difficult to get into.
