What are my chances at these 5 schools? THANKS!

I found this site in a search and I'm so impressed with it. Thanks in advance for your help :)

I am looking to be an Advertising/Communication major, with either a double major or minor in French. My schools:
New York University (I need a scholarship!)
Boston University (need a scholarship)
University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill
University of Georgia
Washington University in St. Louis

Here are my stats:

Weighted GPA (only APs are weighted): 3.8
Unweighted: 3.7
SAT:
Verbal: 690 (hoping to raise to 700+)
Math: 570 (ugh...I'm retaking on Oct 8th and hoping for 600+...been studying like crazy)
Writing: 780
*Will take the SAT II in French.

Rank: 62/365 (most of the people in the top 10, etc. take no high level courses though...very unfair!)

AP Courses: US History (5), Language (4)
I am taking AP courses this year (senior year) in Euro History, Bio, and Literature. I am also taking French V (no AP offered at my school) but plan on taking the AP exam.

-One thing I am worried about: I received one C last year (my only C) in math (mostly due to the teacher....but we won't get into that). Will that severely hurt me????

Other courses:
-This year: Advanced Alg and Trig, American Gov't/Economics
-Junior: AP Lang, AP US History, Gifted Chemistry, Discrete Mate/Statistics, French IV, Current Issues
-Sophmore: Gifted English, Gifted Biology, Algebra II, World History, French III, and Orchestra
-Freshman: Gifted English, Gifted Physical Science, Geometry, Health/PE, French II, Orchestra

Extra Curricular

French Tutoring
French Club (Board member)
Web design (starting a club at school)
Run a fan club for Mariah Carey (recognized by her label, Mariah...more below)
Volunteer at soup kitchen, do charity walks, the usual
Violin (on hiatus at the moment)
Varsity Swimming
Honor Roll

*At my school, you must take a 'regular' Science course before you can take an AP class (only applies to sciences; so this is why I have taken Bio twice). Also, the only AP classes I have not take that are offered are Calculus, Statistics, and Chemistry (taking Bio instead) and Spanish (for obvious reasons.

*As I lived overseas in elementary school, I tested out of French I (and II actually, but we decided the age difference would be too big for a freshman for me to go into French III). Please be aware that I moved back to the US at age ten and have kept up my French by working with a weekly tutor while in elementary school, reading French books, etc. (I mean to say that I put a lot of work into it, I'm not just 'good' because I loved overseas). I am also very active in the French Club and on the Board of Governors. I am in the Nat'l French Honor Society as well, and have taken the Nat'l French Exam the past three years. I have ranked in the top 10 state-wide two years (and #12 freshman year) and also have been ranked #9 in the nation. I have been given 'Superior' ratings at the FLAG competitions the past two years. I attended the Governor's Honors Program here in GA for French last summer (b/w sophmore and junior years). I also do French tutoring for students in French II.

*I have had a part-time job this year and last year at a pizza restaurant (10-12 hrs a week during school) and starting this past summer, I have been doing web design (very interested in that as well) for a local realtor. I also have run a (Mariah Carey) web site that received over 10,000 visitors a month and designed a lot of others.

*I am an avid Mariah Carey fan and have run a fan club in Atlanta the past 4 years. We have been thanked by Mariah on her web site, keep in touch with her management company who send us autographed CDs as prizes and such, promote her on the radio, etc. We also do several charity events (that I organize) to help local funds. For example, we just did a fundraiser by donating $5 to the Make a Wish Foundation for every time Mariah's new song got played on Atlanta radio stations, and we got a lot of the big stations in Atlanta to promote it on air, etc.

*Varsity Swim Team the past 3 years (and planning on this year as well...hopefully as a captain)

Me in a large nutshell. THANKS!

All your schools are big reaches with your test scores, with the exception of Georgia. Your GPA and class rank won't help you, it's just average compared to the other applicants. A grade of C won't kill you... actually it will help you in some ways. Colleges will look at your GPA and ask "how would she have done w/o that "C". Make sure you score high on your test (ACT/SAT) in the section where you got that C.

You won't be getting academic scholarships from those schools you need it. What about financial aid? Where do you live?

Wash U St. Louis - test scores all in the bottom 25% of applicants 22% applicants admitted
NYU - Math in bottom 25%, Verbal between 50-75% 35% applicants admitted
Boston U - Math in bottom 25%, Verbal between 50-75% 55% applicants admitted
UNC - Different ballgame for OOS students (drastically tougher than standards shown.) Kids with 1400+ SAT's getting rejected.
Georgia - Math score between 25-50%, Verbal in top 25%, 62% applicants admitted

I'd say the only school you have a realistic chance of getting in is Georgia.

Wash U St. Louis - IMPOSSIBLE REACH
UNC - IMPOSSIBLE REACH
NYU - VERY LARGE REACH
Boston - BIG REACH
Georgia - REACHABLE REACH

Are you dead-set on these schools? I think you may want to look over your college search again, because your test scores will get these very selective schools to reject you (with the only exception being possibly Georgia).

Try the College Search and Selection forum for good advice.

Good luck!

those are excellent schools, so that 570 in math kills you. get that score up!
