What are my chances at UT Austin?

Hi, I am a white female interested in business and computer science, but leaning towards applying to McCombs. I am wondering what my chances are for McCombs at the University of Texas at Austin.

ACT: 33C (35 M,34 E, 34 S, 28 R), 34 superscore
GPA: 3.88UW/4.61W
Ranking: Top 10%
AP Test Scores: Micro(5) Macro(5) Comp Sci A(4) APUSH(5) AP Spanish Language and Culture(3) AP Calc BC(5).
Senior Year Schedule: Multivariable, AP stats, AP physics C, Regular English, Honors Accounting

Extracurriculars(Vague to protect identity):
Outside of school I was involved in a teenage girls entrepreneurship club focused on social impact projects. At school, I am involved in a Coding Club, Mathletes, Key Club, DECA, and I tutor kids in math and science. I am also involved in a few others. I do not have any major positions, but have been involved in each of the clubs for at least 2 years.

Summer: I went to overnight camp for a few years, but I have also worked at a nearby concert venue. My last year of camp I was a co-captain for color wars. This summer I did a community service outreach trip to learn about and help tackle homelessness and poverty.

Please let me know what you think my chances are for Texas!! Thank you!

Will need a bit more info about your ranking, since UT doesn’t consider GPA. But I’d say you have an excellent chance for both CS and McCombs. You’d probably have a decent (as much as that is) chance for BHP and maybe Turing as well.

To my knowledge CS is more competitive than McCombs, so I’d recommend CS first choice and McCombs second choice (CS is also really difficult to internally transfer into).

I would say your chances are decent for either major at UT. Unfortunately, both programs are hyper-competitive, so there is no guarantee. I would also apply to Texas A&M. A&M is still hyper-competitive, but not quite as bad as UT. Don’t ever let a school tell you what to major in. If you get snubbed, there are a lot of very strong options for business and Computer Science in Texas. U of H and UT-Dallas are both very strong alternatives because of proximity to internships and job opportunities.

Are you instate or out of state?

Oh yeah, 90% of students admitted to UT are in-state. If you’re out of state, your chances are lousy :slight_smile:
