What are my chances at UVa and a few other schools?

Entering freshmen are invited to apply to University Honors if the high school GPA is at least a 3.50 and the SAT I score is a 1400 (minimums: 620 Verbal, 600 Math) or above; or if the high school GPA is at lease a 3.70 with an SAT I score of 1300-1399 (minimums: 620 Verbal, 600 Math).
....here i found the specs for the VA Tech honors

engineering... its a little harder to get in arts school than engineering. for someone with my sats, it was advantageous to apply engineering. but i am gonna transfer to arts and science later.. what major are u applying

university studies...i really have no idea what i wanna do....do you know if that will help or hurt my chances?

hey how did u apply for that? i didnt see that option . was it listed as a major under arts and sciences? i would have done that actually

I really think I have a slim to none chance of getting into UVA....It was just such a nice school, in an amazing location, and awesome sports teams , that I had to apply , hopefully they'll see something in me they like....

yeah it was under arts and sciences...ill check my app now to make sure though, i might be getting them all confused

yeah, its because I applied to arts and sciences...i'm leaning towards a career in medicine, but ive changed my mind so often that i didnt want to comitt myself to anything...

heyy, im me at Waddler64 on aim, if you wanna talk more easily

I think you will get in.Trust me. Although your sat is kinda risky, i think you would make it

b u m p ........

I think you have little to no chance to make it in at UVa regular decision. Many instate kids with better applications than this don't make it. I'm surprised they gave you hope with a deferral. Sorry. At Virginia Tech you have a better chance, but it is still definately not certain. I wouldn't be surprised if you got into VTech, but at the same time I could also understand why you wouldn't have gotten in, esp. since you are out of state. I saw something about an Honors program, and I have no clue how you got that from Virginia Tech. If it is true, then you have a very decent chance of getting in. James Madison you should be fine to get in, no worries. Good luck.

Heyy thanks for the honesty about UVA...it was worth a shot though, and i was surprised by the deferral too lol

about the VA Tech honors thing, why are you so clueless how i got it from them....its a yellow sheet with an application, a letter that congratulates you, and a blue sheet that explains a curriculum vitae and the essay topic and tips for writing the essay...

i really wouldn't mind going to any of these four schools, so I'm not too upset if i can't get into uva...just wanna make sure i'll get into one of them. I only applied to four schools, most of my friends are in double digits in regards to application.

sorry about the VTech thing, as I said, i was skimming through it, and I saw something about the honors program, then another person saying if you got that letter you are definately in, that is why i was surprised, if you just got the sheet b/c you met the minimum requirements, then don't read too much into it, b/c VTech is a very good school and there are many many strong applicants, who could have went to "better" schools but chose the honors program at VTech. I wish you the best of luck, and luck with the honors app as well. You will get into Madison, so don't worry about that, well heres a list, of my opinion:

UVA: very small chance <10% if that
VTech: Around 60-75%, you have a good shot, but its not definite, and out of state will hurt you
Madison: I think in, 90%-99%
UDel (i think you said?): not sure, so i don't want to get hopes up.

good luck.

b u m p ........

b u m p ........

Your rank is pretty good, just out of top 10%, which is probably why you were deferred @ UVA.

I think that getting in depends on other applicants from your school/area.

damn that.. i hate it when the quota thing and diversifiying stuff plays a role

I don't think it's a quota thing, OP is from out-of-state.

Last year, 2004 there were 8907 out of state applicants, and 2704 received offers of admission.

It's tough to get into out of state.

i was talking aobut instate.... yes thers quota.. thers 50 kids applying to uva from my school.. do u really think they will accept me... check ut my stats. if i were in a different school, i would be a shoe in.

I don't know about instate. I have a friend whose d was waitlisted last year with good stats/instate.

I live out of state, and only know about who has gotten into UVA the past few years.

All with amazing stats.
