I’m a grade 11 international student. I got 91% on my freshman year with A’s in (Math- Physics- Biology- Chemistry) and A+ in Philosophy and 96.8% on grade 9. I’m preparing to take the ACT. I’m passionate about computer science and electronics and I was really obsessed about online learning since grade 4, so I started my first online course for web design & development in grade 4 and continued. For my extracurriculars:
-I have my own computer vision research project working on it with a professor.
-I placed first in computer science category in ISEF local fair and was nominated to the ISEF national fair. It was hard somehow to get involved in these kinds of extracurricular activities as I was the first one to go for a science fair in my school.
-I was the leader of the winning team of NXT robotics contest held in my city and we won by building a line-follower robot that could ace the other competitor robot. Actually, It was the first contest to be held in my city because we don’t have the culture of extracurricular activities here.
-I was nominated to the WRC (World Robotics Conference) for a robotics competition in 2014, but my parents had a different point of view, so they refused to let me go for it, and that’s why I’m just “nominated”.
-I was a technical member of IEEE & Microsoft student partnership clubs at my local university. It was an exception to be a part of these clubs as I was in grade 8 and I had to be a college student to get in, but after the interview, I got in!
-I got an invitation from the US embassy to be a presenter at the first Maker Fair in my country.
-I work as a freelancer volunteer translator at Coursera/ TED.
-I’m going to be one of a training group in a tutoring center.
-I gave some sessions about E-learning and MOOCs at my school. I moved the culture of self and online learning to my teachers and colleagues and school’s community.
How am I doing so far? What can I do to improve my application?
What can be the next steps to do for my plan to get into MIT and an Ivy? I really appreciate your efforts to help.
Thanks!
