What are my chances for Cornell (ED), Wash U, Michigan, UC Berkeley, University of Texas Austin

Guy (white, Jewish, New Jersey)

4.05 GPA (3.7 unweighted)
2190 SAT (730 CR, 710 Math, 750 Writing)
SAT Subjects -- Math 2 (720), Literature (730)

3 AP classes junior year (English Language and Composition 5, US History 5, Physics B 3)

6 AP classes upcoming senior year (Computer Science, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Calc BC, Chem, English Literature)

Baseball for all 4 years (already named captain for senior year, all conference junior year)
Football for 3 years (all division junior year, nominee for Jewish Sports Review All American Team)
Track (Shotput) for 1 year (I fucking sucked)

Treasurer of Key Club (organized "Inter-generational Prom" for old people this year and last is my main involvement)
Member of the Peer Leadership program (one of the 20 / 100 students in program chosen to work with freshmen)
Member of NHS (tutoring, organization of blood drive through this program)
Math League for only one year (tried it, didn't really like it)

Took an online Intro to Java class from Johns Hopkins over the summer (I like computer science)

Just got a job at a marketing consulting firm for this summer going into my senior year. I am going to be given tools and use my (small amount of) Java knowledge to update and improve their website. I am also going to be doing research on various different projects the company is working on.

Piano for almost 12 years (don't play publicly, find more satisfaction in piecing together music on radio by ear)
Guitar for almost 8 years (don't play publicly, find more satisfaction in piecing together music on radio by ear)
Trumpet for 4 years, but abandoned it cause ehhh...

That's really all I can think of. I'm most likely going to be applying to Cornell Early Decision (as the title says). I've done visits and been to the information sessions at all of these schools. I did an on-campus interview at Wash U. So, do any of you think I have a decent chance of getting into any of these? Thanks!!

SAT is too low for Berkeley.

You’ll likely get into Cornell ED, so the others will be moot. But, in the absence of the Cornell ED I think you’ll get WL at WUSTL and in to all the others.

I disagree with aunt bea. I think the SAT score is just fine. Your extra cirriculars seem very solid and grades are good too. I guess the only drawbacks are the 2 subject test scores which aren’t great, but probably good enough. Like soze said, I think you can get into Cornell ED and probably UC berkeley as well. IDK much information bout the others

Chance me back please

The SAT score is good and well balanced. It is within the mid 50 for admission to these schools. However, the uwGPA is weak and below admission average for top schools like those on the list. The main question is where is the home state of OP (except for privates).
Considering the admission rate and competitiveness of these schools, oos status, weak GPA and about admission average SAT, they are likely low reach to reach for OP. Just as an reference, the average admission GPA for UMich is 3.85 and the mid 50 SAT is 2040-2260 (up 10 from last year) this year.

Which college within Cornell are you applying to?

Wow we have a very similar college list!
I might apply to Cornell ED too haha

I think you’re a very competitive applicant for many of those schools but maybe try retaking the SAT to bump it up to 2200+?

Otherwise, this is what I think:
WashU - high match / low reach
UMich - match
UT-Austin - safety
Cornell is unpredictable just because it’s an ivy but you have a great shot!

Good luck

Ranza123 – I’m probably applying to the college of arts & sciences, looking to major in Computer Science.

Okay – I’d say you have as fair a shot as anybody getting into Arts ED. Computer Science is also offered through Engineering, so I would research both colleges and see where you think you best fit. Engineering is slightly tougher to get into than CAS, however. I believe you can also major in it through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, which is easier to get into than both CAS and Engineering, but I believe the computer science major in CALS is slightly different than the major in the other two colleges, so that is another thing you may want to look into.
