What are my chances for ED?

Hi you guys, could you last-minute chance me? The application is due in 3 days :P

I am a female Asian-American, no legacy

Test Scores -
ACT: 34, 35 superscored
SAT: 1570/2250 (my english was low)
SAT II: 780 in both Math II and Reading
English AP: 5, but my school does not offer any AP classes

GPA: 3.76
There is no class rank, but I am positive I am top decile at the very least
I have taken the most difficult courses offered at my school

I attend the highest-ranked high school in my state, always top 10 or 15 in the nation, boarding school, selective entry (less then 1/3 acceptance rate)

I skipped my freshman year of high school
sophomore year: straight A's first semester,1 B second
junior year: 1 B first semester, 4 second
senior year: 1 B first quarter

I know I messed up my second semester junior year, but my brother (only sibling) developed schizophrenia, got a drug problem, and dropped out of college... This is explained in my application and in my counselor's rec.

Extra-Curriculars:

Over 200 hours of community service

Varsity Basketball, Varsity Soccer

Internship at Northwestern University for my junior year

Summer Internship at UChicago for my junior/senior summer

Highest Orchestra offered at my school (audition only)

Tutor students in the sciences and in French for hours each week (only about 10-12 out of every 100 students are selected to tutor)

I am the Sports and Current Events Section Editor for my school newspaper

I participate largely in Junior Statesmen of America, Key Club, and the Korean-American Association (planning events, etc, but no board position)

National Merit Semifinalist

I have done all of my above ec's for all my high school years (apart from my internships)

My essays should be great (I am one of the best writers in my school)
My recommendations should also be wonderful. I also have an extra rec from my advisor from my summer internship, the Curriculum Director of Graduate Biology at the University of Chicago

My conselor wants me to apply RD, but I really wanted to apply ED

What do you guys think? Please reply :]

I’d listen to your GC, they know more about it than us

I agree with patriotsfan1. Guidance Counselors know a lot more than many give them credit for.

You probably should listen to your GC. For you, the difference bt. ED & RD is not that great.

Why do you think the gc recommends RD v ED?

Guidance counselors don’t necessarily know that much more than us - depends on the particular school and individual. In any event, if Duke is your first choice and you don’t need to compare financial aid packages, then definitely apply ED. Why not? Even if it just helps a little bit, it’s worth it, plus you can relax more the rest of the year. ED is less of a crapshoot; if you have impressive stats, you’re likely to gain admissions whereas in the RD pool there can be more variability. I’d say your chances ED are good. If you’re not sure about Duke or need to compare financial aid packages, then apply to Duke RD. Good luck.

She could want you to get good grades and get that GPA up or she might not have her rec done yet haha.
