hi every one,
i just graduate with BS in computer science from the college of staten island (cuny). their CS and engineering program are both accredited by ABET.
GPA: 3.58
GPA in major: 3.68
i don’t have research experience but i can get good recommendations
my goal is to get a MS in cs from a top school so if my chances are low for GT what other top schools are likely to accept me assuming i do well on the GRE exam
There is a grad section of the forum for asking grad questions. I think that most top schools really do want research experience or work experience. What can someone say in a recommendation letter? Did well in class? Well they can see your grade. Where someone with research you can say a lot about. Did your professors think you would be a good candidate? If so then have them write in the letter why. If they steer you to other schools take the hint.
If you are talking about the online MS program admit rate is 50% for CS majors. No GRE required. The Online program is much more limited in scope (fewer specializations), but the classes are equally rigorous, and the price is super low - about $7K total and it takes (typically) 3 yrs instead of 2. It is designed for part-time students. Application process is similar. The on campus program MS is much more selective , and even more so for the PhD program. You get the same degree either way (MS programs).
