What are my chances for RD UGA?

Live in Georgia

Gender: Male

Race (if it matters): African American, Japanese, White and Cherokee Indian

Weighted GPA: 3.7

Superscore: ACT 28 (29 English, 26 Math and Reading, 29 Science)

ECs: Summer baseball, Church Small Group Leader, Church Volunteer Group, Hospital Volunteer

School Activities: Varsity Baseball, DECA, Community Service Club, School Spirit Group

Honors: NHS, NTHS, NSHSS

I have great essays and great letters of recommendation.

I don’t how much this helps but each year my grades have improved as my rigor in courses increased. ECs aren’t aren’t as vast as others because of the time commitment had to spend on baseball which has occupied most of my life. I do not plan to play in college. Instead, I plan to focus on academics.

What are my chances of getting accepted to UGA during regular decision?

I think you have a good chance, but no one can say for sure. Good luck!

I agree…I think you have a good chance but it’s hard to say for sure.

@_sfxl @jennacwa what’s a good chance? In your opinion, what do you think is the percentage chance of me getting in? The reason why I am asking this is that UGA admitted stats continues to increase each year. In the last two years, the average act was a 29. This year, the average act of ED admitted students was a 31. I assume it is this high because ED is based completely on academics and test scores. So, I am hoping it goes down for regular decision as UGA is a state school that has an acceptance rate of 53%.

Also, I did send in my mid year reports which contains all As (93+ in every class).

I feel like UGA can be a crapshoot just because of how ridiculous admissions seem to be sometimes. I know people who got in EA this year from the top high schools in the state with a 27 on the act. The only thing that I’d be concerned about is your gpa, but your midyear reports will be a huge plus, especially if you have a rigorous schedule. I really don’t think it would be beneficial to put a percentage on it because I could see it going either way.

I agree with ^, but I do think you’re in the upper half (so more than 50% chance), but i dont work for admissions, so idk for sure.

Could you chance me back?

@jennacwa yes, my gpa is what concerns me about my decision. During freshmen and sophomore year, I did have a lot things going on in my life that derailed me from achieving high scores. I did have my counselor mention this, and each year afterwards, my grades and the rigor of my courses increased. Also, I got to read one out of the three recommendations, which I presumed would be the worst, but I when I read it, I was blown away by what she said. Based off this, I believe the two other recommendations would be just as good or even better as they were ecstatic to write one for me.

Hey thanks for your reply - honestly you seem like a really good fit. Your extracurriculars are great and your test scores and gpa are within range. How was your course rigor?

@ayetee123 Sadly, only three APs. Never knew the importance of taking lots of APs to “challenge” yourself. So, I took AP classes in areas I was interested in, so I got As in all of them. I also do have some other rigorous/honors courses that I did receive a As in.

@FBDrDunn oh ok, either way thats good! keep ya head up

you have a good chance at UGA!

@aye123 hopefully, I don’t get penalized because of a lack in number of APs.

The only thing to worry about would be your GPA and level or rigor. If you’re GPA is only a 3.7 and you only took 2 AP’s that’s not UGAish imo.

Final bump before decisions

If your weighted GPA is your UGA GPA then you are set! You are lacking in AP’s but if you took mainly honors you should be fine as well. Your test scores are also good considering UGA specifically says they do not put a lot of emphasis on test scores. Could you chance me as well?

How many honors classes did you have in addition to the 3 APs you took?
What is your unweighted GPA?
