I realize I may not be the top candidate, but I applied just to see what could happen and maybe (hopefully) be accepted! I did not hear anything from UGA on the 23rd, so now I am even more anxious to hear from them on March 16th. I would like to hear what some of y’all think for my chances of getting in for RD.
UGA GPA: 3.54
ACT: 25
4 AP’s /many honors classes (I know they don’t consider honors any differently)
In-State
Both of my parents attended UGA
I have many service hours and clubs filled out on my application
(Volunteer for my church 4+ years, Simple Charity club at my school in 10th grade, Co-Founder of Dog Club in 11th grade, Ping Pong Club 9th-11th grade, Volunteered with my local Humane Society for a little over a year, Volunteered with a local horse rescue for 2 years, Volunteered with Light House Family Retreat one summer, FCCLA memeber, DECA member)
Although I did not participate in any school sports, I have been riding horses competitively since the 2nd grade.
I also have plenty of work listed on my application
(Internship for 4 years with a professional horseback rider/ instructor, working for retail stores, and nanny experience)
I also provided two recommendations
I applied for the Summer term ( not sure if this could help me some)
I understand I may not be the top of this incoming class but I hope with service hours, work experience, and clubs UGA may consider me. If they don’t, I plan to eventually transfer in!
I have a relative who applied with a 1450 SAT (single sitting), 31 ACT (single sitting), 3.75 GPA, URM, in-state, Eagle Scout, one varsity sport, with very strong recommendations & was waitlisted, but later admitted.
Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Southern & a host of other universities in The South should be great options for you.
@gooodawgs22 & VANDEMORY1342: The University of Georgia does not consider legacy status &, surprisingly, does not consider state residency when making admissions decisions according to their filed CDS.
does anyone know if applying for summer will help me any? i know at some schools they tend to accept more students that are on the lower end for summer rather than for fall. i am unsure about uga though
UGA does not consider legacy. I’m an alumni and they clearly told me that does not help at all. I don’t think you will be admitted. Glad you have a plan as there are many great schools that would love to have a student with your profile!
i graduated high school may 2017 with a 4.0, 10 aps, and a 1350 on the SAT. i was deferred and later denied. both of my sisters graduated from there, too.
do not give up hope though, becuase there were plenty of people who had lower everything and were accepted.
