What are my chances for RPI?

Hey CC!

What are my chances of getting into RPI? I'm a US Citizen studying abroad.

SAT 1970, ACT 29. Is there anything else I should provide that would help?

Thanks a lot!

EC - ?
Grades - ?
Course Load - ? (APs, Honours)
Class Rank - ?
School competitiveness - ?
SAT subject tests - ?
Hooks - ? (if any)
SAT/ACT breakdown - ?

No Honors, no AP.
Grades, well my 9th and 11th grades aren’t great at all. But in India the main exams are 10th final and 12th final. So yeah, in 10th grade, I got all As. GPA isn’t given.

ECs: I have a design blog, I post piano covers on YouTube, been on the basketball team since 2009 and won a few tournaments, won a couple interschool music competitions.
Should I get into more detail?

Thanks!

Are you following CBSE?

ISC.
“this message is too short”. <— ignore this

you have a decent chance at rpi. id say high match
and yeah isc is quite tough, im doing it too

chance me back guys:-

Thanks! I think I’ll apply ED then. What do you think?

i wouldnt recommend applying ED unless you are sure that SUNY buffalo is the best school you can get into

Not to Buff, ED to RPI.
It’s a great school, and if I get in with good aid, I would probably go for it. And in case I don’t want to take it, I can always say that they didn’t give me enough aid, right?

One thing I’m worried about is the area. I haven’t heard too many good things about Troy.

Oh im sorry, i though it was buffalo. Well, RPI is a decent school but you have a decent sat score. you might possibly get into a better school so i would say dont ED RPI

But in the worst case, I can always reject the ED, correct? I really don’t see the harm in ED for my case

If you apply ED and get in, you have to attend the college. ED is binding.

Yes, it is binding, but you can always reject it on the basis of financial need.

Edit: By the way, I don’t think I should “chance” you. I honestly am not sure. :stuck_out_tongue: Your scores seem really good, though.

I would a it should be a possible high match.
Can you chance me for SUNNY Buffalo, please?I’m an Indian following CBSE board.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1580511-chance-international-student-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Im not aware if you can reject it on basis of financial need, if you can then theres no harm in applying ED.
Its okay if you cant chance but thanks anyway

I would say it can be a match to low reach. Depends on your major. Do you have any related scientific research ECs or anything like those? That can boost your chances greatly.
Also, do you have any academic awards?

Chance back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

@minato, there’s no need to hijack another thread. Just wait for replies like I am.

@SoccerGuy, alright thanks! :good:

@bbff - Thanks!
No, I don’t have any science ECs. but I’m applying for a CS major. I have a design blog, if that counts. And I’ve gone for a few Android Workshops at IIT Bombay.

I’ll check out your thread, though i dunno how much of help I’ll be, bbff :)

Guys, I think there’s an issue! Apparently the deadline for CSS application has past! Is this true?

Bump!

I was offered a $60,000 scholarship to RPI, and I’d say you’re right there for admission; use any unique experiences, like India, to your advantage.
