What are my chances for Scholarships? Currently Employed

I am currently employed as the Chief Marketing Officer at a state level magazine, we've had some phenomenal success over the past few months. Although we're less than a year old, we've had great social media following and have received some glorious Letter of Appreciations from some of the top most schools in my state. I belong from New Delhi, India. Our magazine is an effort to give the due help needed for the upcoming musicians.

I am a part of various clubs in our school, including the Computer and Western Music clubs and am expecting a 90% score in my final 12th grade examinations, do I qualify for any scholarships?

Scholarships where? What is your ACT or SAT score?

Most scholarships are not based on jobs or ECs.

How much money do you need to attend college here…and are you an international student?

I’m planning to attend college in Canada, hence I’m not giving SAT. And yes I’m an International Student, looking for any kind of funds that I can get my hands on.

Are you a Canadian citizen?

No, International Student.

Do Canadian schools give int’l aid? or much?

I still don’t understand what kind of scholarships are you looking for. What you are doing is great, but it is not rocket science and it has been less than a year. You would have a much better chance to work harder and get a bonus to pay for college.

or seek out scholarships through your current school (do you have a guidance counselor) that can be used at any college.

I think this is a case of misunderstanding how int’l aid works in the US because of how scholarships are earned in his country.

US schools don’t typically award scholarships, especially full scholarships which he seems to be seeking, simply for good grades and new success in a job.

A rather few schools even give full aid to int’ls here, and the aid is based on need, not accomplishments. And those schools are the hardest to get into. If accepted, the school looks very closely at the family’s financials and determines how much the family should pay. Plus there is a student contribution. Then aid is given.

This board has mostly US folk posting You might search or post in the international student section and see what others in your position look for. My understanding is that scholarships to Canadian universities are not as plentiful for internationals as in the US and UK.

I suggest you start with the major Canadian universities and check the websites.

This student needs someone who knows about how finacial aid works at Canadian colleges…because that is where he plans to attend college…as an international student. Giving him info about international aid for U.S. Schools isn’t going to be a speck of help.

I would suggest that this student look on the websites for the Canadian colleges he wishes to attend, and see what they say about aid for international students.

I think Canadian colleges probably are more stats conscious than US colleges. So ECs probably don’t count that much.

I would guess that Canadian colleges provide more aid to Canadian students.
