My top school choices are -

University of Washington - Seattle Campus
Purdue University
University of Illinois Urbana
New York University
Stony Brook University

My intended major is Physics.

I am a highschool senior that realized the importance of education very late into the game. I messed around freshman and sophmore years, and in junior year, after realizing what was happening, struggled to bring it up. Currently at a 2.7 GPA and I did the math, and by getting all As in 6 AP classes and 2 normal classes I can bring it up to a little higher than a 3. That's not significant to colleges though because they will have already received my application.

Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere and people here are not the smartest. My school system only has a 13 percent algebra proficiency and a barely higher English proficiency, so even with that GPA, I'm safely in the top 50% of my class.

I got a 27 on the ACT, but only because I was incredibly tired.
33 in English, 26 in math (was so tired I stared at a question for 10 minutes and lost track of time), 26 in science (same as before. Didn't pace myself well) and 23 in reading (I actually went to sleep during this test about 30 questions in. Woke up and had to fill in random for the last 10.)

I retook it earlier today and I know for a fact I got a 32+ (on the practice ones I took I always got 34-36) and most colleges WILL be getting that. I've written a darn good college essay.

Chance back?

I’m new to the forums. What do reach and match mean? Does reach mean that it’s pushing my luck?

Match = you’ll make it
Reach = it’ll be kinda tough to make it, like reaching up on a shelf
High Reach = Slim chance

You can make it to your reach schools if you do really well on your tests like the SAT and the ACT, and with really good essays. Start volunteer work if you can.

by “really well”, I mean over 2000 on your SAT. I never took the ACT, so I don’t really know for that.

Alright. I’ve never worried about the SAT simply because of where I live

Can anyone else chance me?

very nice upward trend (which colleges supposedly love :)). get that act grade up and you have a unique and strong app, especially if you wrote a strong essay maybe touching on your upward trend. i would say medium match- low reaches for all those schools with your upward trend and GET THAT HIGH ACT! REALLY emphasizing upward trend :)
