What are my chances for TOP colleges like MIT, HARVARD, PRINCETON?

I'm a sophomore right now. I'll give info about myself up to right now and tell you my plans for the rest of high school

Freshman Year:

Grades crappy (all either B+ or A-) However I took Ap Calc Bc and AP Physics (i got A-'s in both)
All courses curriculum 1 (except Ap calc and phys) because there are no honors classes for freshmen. I sitll did crappy in those classes (either A- or B+)
(i was an immature kid when i was a freshman ;/)

AMC 12: 114
AIME: 7
Should have gotten into USAMo if it weren't for an absurdly stupid rule they have which greatly favor underclassmen who take AMC10 rather than the harder AMC12..

Ap Calc and AP Phys mechanics scores = 5 for both
No volunteer work

Science team and math team, but no significant achievements in either except AMCs

Sophomore Year:

All honors classes except French and English, which are curriculum 1's (normal leveled classes, but there is no honors for French 2 which I'm taking)
Ap's = Statistics and Chem
All A's except French and English (A-'s for those 2)
Of course I didn't get these grades yet, by looking at my term grades right now, i'm pretty sure of these grades.

Amc's/AIme = did worse than last year. Will not even write in my resume

KSEA math competition 1'st place New England division (this is a competition for koreans/korean americans) Possibly placed well nationally but the results arent up yet

Here are my future plans:

Sophomore year:

my school is going to Science Olympiad nationals. I hope to get at least top 10 in my event

Place something in ARML (probably won't happen)

Get 5's for my ap tests

Do hell alot of community service/volunteering during summer, possibly getting a parttime job/internship

Junior year:
WIll take all honors classes next year, and try to get all A's
2 AP's, bio and us history
Possibly do online college courses for math

I will try to do well on AMC, AIME, and USAMO, + other math competitions
Will try to do well on Science competitions too

I'll do volunteering continously throughout the year every week, instead of doing a lot during a vacation.

I will probably be captain of Math team, and possibly be one of several captains in science team

I will do school swimming

Senior year + final stuff:

will take at least 4 ap's hopefully (making it a total of about >11 ap tests)
and get at least 2300 sats

SO, here are my questions to you. If I succeed fairly well in my plans, and taking into account what I've done so far, do you think I'll be able to get into a top school?
Does it look like i'm not very well-rounded? (too much math/science focused?) for example, in my sophomore year, my two non honors classes were English and French and I didn't even get A's for those two T_T.

How should I improve my plans? Anything you would recommend I do?
(btw I'm an international student living in US, not a citizen, so my chances for admission is lower)

THanks a lot in advance! (feel free to ask more questions about me)

Who knows, for most junior year is where it gets tough. Keep in mind however, unless you are going to win international honors in math/science, H and P especially will want equally advanced course work and grades in all subjecs.

sounds a bit bitter.
I got 118.5 AMC12 and 7 on AIME and I didn’t make it either. the qualification is AMC score + 10* AIME score > 200.0

are you Asian? if yes, rejected at all. if no, maybe waitlist on one or two of them.
I truly don’t see anything special. look at other schools that are a notch below HYPSM.

what race?
if asian, no chance.

you need non-academic ECs or you’re probably rejected.
not saying you’re in if you have some but you need them.

And when people say ‘well-rounded’ it’s not refering to being good
at math-science versus writing-humanities

it’s more about your personal interests aren’t only academic.

Yes Im asian. I was hoping my Ap calc and Ap physics in my freshman year was something kinda special.

Non academic ECs as in sports? can you give some examples of non-academic ECs i might be able to start?

^it’s a bit impolite asking for chances on someone else’s chance board. make your own and you’ll be sure to get comments.

this stuff is impressive, but universities don’t care. should I have said I took Honours Intermediate Algebra in grade 6? No, many people who are good at math do so, and in the end, it doesn’t make any difference.

sports are good, but don’t do them just for university apps. do something you enjoy (that is not math/science oriented). start a business, start a community service initiative, learn a new language, anything really.

but really, it’s a little early to be thinking of university. enjoy high school. the only thing you should definitely do is get involved in activities you enjoy (and not JUST for university apps, but also because you actually are interested)

zephryavatar: thankz 4 telling me about mi faux-paus ;p

If I start doing a lot EC’s junior year, will that be too late???

Firstly, you should do ECs because you enjoy them. Starting a whole bunch of ECs junior year just looks like you want to pad your resume/app. Universities like commitment. They want to know that you will be an active member of the community when you are on campus. So, no, junior is not too late if you forgot about it previous years, though it won’t look as good. But ideally, start thinking about and get involved in some ECs that interest you as soon as possible, not only for your application, but to have a more fulfilling life (cliche, I know, but it’s true).
