I'm a 20 year old at Sacramento City College. I applied to Davis for Fall 2010 as a Design major (Visual Communication emphasis). When I applied I had a 2.8, but it's now bumped up to a 3.01 (which may go up .1-.2 points because my Tagalog teacher hasn't posted our grades up yet and that's a 4 unit class).

Then here are my extracurricular activities: writer and a designer for my high school and college newspaper (and I'm coming back to the newspaper as a designer for the spring), involved in Campus Crusade for Christ, cheer team at SCC, worked at the Mac lab (computer lab for graphic communication students to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.) as a tutor for 2 semesters, and won an award for an article I wrote in high school and a scholarship for being in the graphic communication club last semester. Oh and I've been helping design some projects at my church.

As far as personal statements, for the 1st prompt, I wrote about how I got into web designing and making cool graphics as a pre-teen and teen then got involved in the newspaper my senior year and my 1st semester at SCC but realized how I wanted to be a designer instead (though I still love to write, I talked about how I realized that journalism wasn't the environment for me), and took graphic communication classes, worked at the Mac lab, and came back to the newspaper as a designer a year later. And the 2nd one was about me trying out for the cheer team twice and making it the 2nd time, and how that taught me perseverance when it comes to reaching my goals and dreams.

I really hope I get in. I also applied to Sac State. My boyfriend encouraged me to apply to Davis (he lives in the city of Davis and applied there too along with UCB, UCSB and Sac State), and I didn't think that I had what it takes but I still went with it anyway since they have a high acceptance rate for transfers (like about 70%) and they are the only UC that has a graphic design program (well UCLA too but I know that that is unrealistic for me), and now I really really wanna go there. I guess I would be fine with going to Sac State too, but being an Aggie would be super awesome.

Oh and I didn't do TAG. I would've if I realized that I wanted to apply there a long time ago. But my decision to apply was like spur of the moment and now I REALLY wanna go there.

Oh and just curious, is anyone familiar with the design program over there?
