Current Junior at an Early College in-state. 4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.914 weighted.
SAT (January 2015): 1780 (640 Reading, 480 Math, 670 Writing)
PSAT (October 2015): 1140 (640 Reading, 500 Math)
I have taken the ACT but have not received my scores yet. (As an aside, both my brother, who had the same SAT as me, and my best friend, who had an SAT 700 points lower than me, both got into Chapel Hill and they did NOT take the ACT. Could I be at a disadvantage by taking it? My scores are already sent.)
I am eligible to graduate this December, but I have chosen to graduate in May 2017 instead.
When I graduate, I will have ~40 hours of college credit and an Associate’s Degree. I have also taken one AP course and got a 4 on the external exam.
Volunteer/Leadership Roles: Hospital Volunteering (~130 hours, two summers), Local Theater Group (~20 hours), School Play (~15 hours), Shadowing with my Dentist (~20 hours, started this January, ongoing), Tutoring (9th Grade for ~10 hours, starting again this April at local elementary schools), Academic Challenge Competition (I was in three meets, ~30 hours)
Extras: I am in the National Honors Society. I have taken all honors classes since 9th grade. I took an advanced Math course beginning in 7th grade (Where I took Algebra I in one year as opposed to two, and then went on to take Geometry in 8th while my other classmates took Geometry in 9th and so on), got an award for an Excellent Achievement in Language Arts in 10th Grade, and have a good relationship with many teachers.
ETC: I know my SAT is pretty low. But, my best friend who had a much lower SAT than me and similar Volunteering to me (down to being in the same theater group and play) got in (though she may have had some more). Would the fact that I have taken actual college classes “boost” my SAT score? If the SAT is meant to see how well I do in college classes, then surely my consistently good grades in actual college classes would help.
