what are my chances for yale?

basically im wondering if its worth it for me to apply ea to yale or if i should just apply to a less selective school instead. here's some info about me
white male

sat II: 800 math 2, 760 chem
gpa: 3.78 unweighted (i know this is low. my freshman and sophomore years were not the best)
ap: 5 bc calc, 5 environmental science, 4 bio
ive also taken ap english but i didnt take the exam. my school doesnt offer very many ap courses. im also currently taking ap physics and multivariable calc (at a college).
i'm pretty sure that at one of my teacher recommendations will be great but idk about the other.
interests: humanities, math, and econ
extracurriculars:
i play a sport really competitively all year. unfortunately, im not quite good enough to get recruited at yale, but ive won many competitions and awards and im currently my schools team captain.
president of the debate team
model un
french exchange
national honors society
i volunteer teaching young kids for about 2 hrs a week
i have a few other less important extracurriculars

awards: national merit scholarship semifinalist, ap scholar etc. (ive won a few school wide academic awards and one regional leadership award)

also, where else should i apply?

Of course. You should apply to Yale. You may never know what could happen next. Just to throw a few at you:

University of Chicago
NYU
Brown
UC Berkeley (I heard they have a really good econ program)
Macalester ( If your interested in humanities or something along the lines of Political Science)
Cal Tech - Especially for Math
George Washington University ( could be your match or even a high safety)

There are tons of schools out there as well that would suit your interests. Good Luck!

thanks sd1996

It’s hard for anyone to get into yale. Yale doesn’t accept people with perfect test scores and 4.0 gpa. So don’t feel upset if you don’t get in. If you want to up your chances of getting in you should apply early. If Yale is like other schools it will be easier to get in early but Yale one of the most selective and hardest schools in the world this might not be the case.

I think Yale is a bit of a reach. Since you didn’t elaborate on your extraciriculars, I’m not sure how much leadership you’ve shown. But amazing scores!
