~thks to all

As it stands now, your list is very top-heavy. If you achieve your SAT goal, its not too bad since your class rank is very good - but if you don't, you are looking at a very risky admissions strategy.

Contact CMU and ask about the physics requirement. I don't know if they make any exceptions.

One big factor with the state schools is where you life - UNC and UVA are particularly difficult for out of state applicants. At this point, adding even just one likely admit school (at your current stats) would make your stategy a lot less problematic.

how to contact admissions office?
i live on west coast and during business hours I am in school
wat to do?

I think raising SATs 300 points is pretty optimistic, it might not be too realistic.

Your class rank should save the day but the only safe school imo is BU, I'd call it safe/match. I'd look for a "safer" school to add to your list.

aprreciate it

You can call the East Coast when you 1st wake up (before you go to school). They should be up & running at that hour & you should be able to speak with someone who can answer your questions. Failing that, you can e-mail them or call them on a cell phone during recess or lunch from school. By the way, I've not heard of many folks raising their SAT scores by 300 points, but good luck!

email doesnt work, and phone just keeps going to answering machine, wat to do, days are going by and this is really bothering me. CMU is my 1st choice and now im having 2nd thoughts because of tat physics requirement

Leave a message on the answering machine & ask them to call back at a time which will work for you, like 6:30 am West Coast time (9:30 PA time), to speak with someone about your concerns and questions. One phone number for the College of Admissions there is (412)268-2082.

I don't understand why e-mail won't work, generally it works pretty well for most folks.

Good luck!FOr what it's worth, the website for CMU's business school is http://business.tepper.cmu.edu.

your SAT scores are a bit low for where you are applying. If you reach the 2200 goal you have, then you should be set. I haven't heard of anybody improving their score that much tho... And you might want to take another science SATII since your chem score wasn't outstanding. You should be okay for Boston, CMU, UVA, and JHU. Just check what I posted on your other thread about the physics thing.

its been 2 weeks since i sent the emails and no one is answering the phone
wat else can i do?

As I said above, leave a message. Most colleges are good about replying to the messages they receive. If they don't reply, that tells you something about the school as well & perhaps gives you insight about how you may be treated as a student.

Why are you only applying to the hardest schools? Unlikely your SAT will raise 300 points. Very unlikely. Need some more matches.

very top heavy list. find some safeties.

have you read the following thread re the importance of finding safeties?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=96791

plz rate safties,match, and reach

Boston UNiv
Carnegie Mellon (i found out physics isnt required to apply for business school)
College of William and Mary (yeah i added this one)
Cornell
NYU
UC Berkely
UC San Diego (counselor said its a good safety)
U Mich
U Virginia
Washington Univ in St. Louis
so a total of 10 schools

also here are couple more q's

wats the average # of school ppl apply to?
which other business schools do u think i have a shot at?
when should i start the college essays , now, or should i focus on SAT more?
which schools from my list give the most financial aid?
should i apply ED or EA anywhere???
y finally was it a good idea to drop UPENN of my least of schools?

all help is very much appreciated , plz take the time to respond if u view this thread. a couple answers to my q's will really hope

thks everybody
