<p>what are my chances of getting into harvard?</p>

<p>*international student from israel</p>

<p>*work as a computter programer in the idf(israeli defence forces)</p>

<p>*20 years of age</p>

<p>*participated in the "Managers of the future program". The program is a four month program
dealing with key business issues such as introduction to marketing, the art of presentations, business models,
strategic analysis, financial principles, etc. The sessions are taught by the firm's leading experts and by
managers from the high-tech community including Fast 50 CEOs. The program is run by Deloitte(the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients. These firms are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT)
Tel Aviv Municipality.</p>

<p>*during 5th to 8th grade I was in a program for gifted kids in tel aviv universaty</p>

<p>*in the 10th grade I took 6 courses for a first dgree in mathematics</p>

<p>*excellent high school grades on physics math and computer scince(highest level corses)

<p>tests scores:
toefl 100
sat subjects
math 2 800,physucs,800,chemastry 800
sat 1 math 760,writing 630, reading 560 (total 1950)
the reason for this poor score is that I had only on chance of taking the test,
the math is excellent but the reading and writing are not so great
to by honest i dont know if I have ime to improve it buch till january test date.</p>

<p>It’s almost impossible for an international student to get in with a 1950.</p>

<p>How much is needed?.. even if I plan to major in computer scince or matamatics?..
and everthing except my sat 1 is great?
as far as I know international students are much more forgiven for low reading and writing scors.
my toefl score shows that I can manage myself with english.

<p>From where? Empirical evidence. You can check the threads on the top of this forum with past years’ decisions. You’ll notice that there are plenty of students who are better than you, in terms of test scores and everything else, who were rejected. On top of that, it is generally understood that American universities are generally more stringent on international applicants. That is especially obvious in certain schools that are need-blind for U.S. citizens and need-aware for international students. Harvard is (as far as I know) the most generous when it comes from international students; because of this, the international applicant pool is especially strong, although this is also true at many other schools. You may want to consider technology schools (like MIT, Caltech, etc.). Those schools are generally more forgiving of poor writing and CR scores on the SAT, and they would look favorably upon computer science experience in the IDF and your strong SAT II scores. MIT also has a very strong program in management, although I’m not sure how much they would value your experience in a program.</p>

less?.. give me a rough estimation.
is it hopeless or anything can happen?.. I know someone from israel who got accepted with lower scores on the subjects and the same scores on the sat 1.
she also got a the full price for harvard, about 200000
I am also appliaing for MIT .
I how better chances there and also it is a better college(the best) fo the majors I am considering like computer science, math, engineering</p>

<p>Now, 7% rate of acceptance from the pool as a whole…</p>

<p>I know it will be frustrating to hear, but no one (even a Harvard admissions officer!) can tell you exactly what your percent chance at Harvard will be. They use a “holistic” process, meaning that they look at your test scores, ECs, personal circumstances, etc. to make their final decision. It may seem unfair at times, but obviously they’re doing a <em>pretty</em> good job considering Harvard’s representation in the top graduate programs, prestigious awards, and job placement. You will often read that “HYP is a reach for everyone,” and this is the reason why.</p>

<p>(And btw I just read this thread in the MIT forum so good luck there, as well. You know that MIT and Harvard have a cross-registration program, right?)</p>
