What are my chances in UOf R considering I need quite a lot of aid.

@Meghasingh We live in the Rochester area so am familiar with it. Based on my son’s experience with them and some of his friends, I think you are 50/50 at best. Your overall grade average is on the low side for most applicants. Your exam numbers are about average for U of R students so they shouldn’t hold you back but they won’t necessarily put you over the top either. Your ECs seem reasonable although I’m not familiar with the groups you mention. Being an international student definitely is an advantage there. The U of R is definitely one of those schools that put a lot of significance into early decision - we heard they filled as high as 40% of their class from ED applicants. Not sure how the financial need affects acceptance - I do know from some of my son’s former HS classmates that the international students tend to be from more wealthy families but that certainly isn’t the case for every student. Ultimately, my son didn’t like the vibe there and would have had to go into significant debt to attend. It wasn’t worth it and he decided to save his debt for med school. I wish you the best and hope you are accepted so you have U of R has an option to compare against other schools. It is a very good school and a beautiful campus. Best of luck!

Thankyou so much for your valuable input
What do you think can give me a slight boost now that I have submitted the application as RD.
Would being in touch with the professors through mail be a plus point?
I really need it actually!

I am also a part of an engineering prep class which is known really well in India

Would have had better chances in ED/EDII rounds. Have you contacted admissions directly ? Requested an interview via Skype ? Joined the Hive and reviewed peers ? Provided an explanation on your GPA if impacted by an event or specific year ? Grades and standardized testing is set in stone, but your engagement and clarification is not.

We dont have a system of APs in India actually nor do we have different levels of difficulty. The combination of the subjects we choose shows the difficcutly. Ill do the above.Thankyou So much!
