What are my chances of being accepted for NYU ED????

Hello, I just submitted my ED application to NYU and I really have no idea where I even stand on chances.

Basically, I have a 3.2 GPA from a very difficult private school in Iowa. I got a 30 on the ACT, and I know it's a bit of a reach but do you think NYU would take a chance on me?

I've been in all honors courses through high school, and taken two AP classes (English Grammar and Writing and US History) i plan on taking AP Government and Psychology this year.

Activities and Leadership:
Vice President in Thespian Troupe #3842 - Thespian Honor Bar member, Member of Girls Choir - 2 years, Member of Concert Choir - 2 years, traveled to New York City to preform a prelude concert at Carnegie Hall with Concert Choir in January 2011, Crew Member/Student Director for the following Plays and/or Musicals: Metamorphoses, Children of Eden, Quilters, The Nerd, Jesus Christ Superstar, This is a Test, and Spring Awakening, Cast Member for the following Plays and/or Musicals: Voices from the High School, Check Please: Take 1 and 3, Decades of Dubuque (Also producer and co-writer), Brighton Beach Memoirs, and Crimes of the Heart. Volunteer Hours completed through school during High School Career: about 70, Waitress at Happy Joe's Pizza Parlor - 2 years approx. 12 hours a week.

Honors/Awards:
2nd Place in Monologues at Iowa State Thespian Festival, 1st place in Martin Luther King Jr. Contest, Outstanding Leadership Award - Children of Eden, Metamorphoses, Quilters, and Jesus Christ Superstar, NAACP Leadership Award and Community Award.

Well, you will find out soon enough!
The GPA is a tad low but the ACT fits in the 28-31 range (25-75%) that NYU accepted last year (according to IPEDS). You are also from Iowa, which helps because you will provide geographic diversity.
Did you apply as a full-pay? ED allows colleges to fill up a certain percentage of their class with full pays who have committed to come, so they know how much FA they can hand out in the RD round. Not applying for FA in the ED round can be a help if you’re basically qualified but need a small boost. It will not overcome major deficiencies in your app.

I hope you realize that NYU is very expensive and notoriously bad for need-based aid. They offer the “opportunity” for students to take out huge loans.

Basically you have done all you can and all you can do is wait. Good luck.
