What are my chances?
Gender: Female

I play Girls Varsity Lacrosse
I have received many Faculty Awards in Math and Science
I am in Interact Club, Student Council, Humanitarian Club, Debate Club, and in the Student Leadership Organization

I am not an excellent standardized test taker; however,

560 Critical Reading

ACTs-
31 Math
29 English
22 Reading
22 Science
(10 on my essay)

What do you think my chances for admission will be for RD?

*I was selected to be a teacher's assistant in my Physics class.

I didn’t post nearly all of my EC’s - I developed a sailing program for developmentally challenged kids. I have been sailing since I was 5 and I am a sailing instructor so I thought that would be a nice way to give back. I am a lifeguard I work at two retails stores and I do loads of community service. And I have an alumni relation - grandparent.

How about now? Any better? My best ACTs are :
31 Math
29 English
22 Reading
24 Science
29 (English +Writing)

Yeah that’s probably a little better, but your SAT’s and ACT’s still kinda put you out of range… sorry
You can try though! Write a dazzling essay Good luck!

Unless from now to when you apply you either:

A) Turn Black/Hispanic from a ghetto
B) Cure Cancer
C) Discover untold wealth and donate the money to UPenn

OR you can just take the SAT in january after studying really hard and atleast bring it up to 700 if not 650+ range.
But 500’s!?? and those ACT scores don’t even reach that “competent” or “readiness” benchmark they set for college, so maybe you should take a gap year or go to a community college. No offense, just being real.

Haha, my chances. net actually said I have 35% chance… and my ACT scores do actually reach the college readiness benchmark, so you don’t know what your talking about (I got a 24 in science). I’ve actually already been accepted to three good schools all on merit scholarship; and don’t tell me to go to community college with a 4.0…just because I don’t do well on standardized tests doesn’t mean anything. I’m a great student and although upenn is a large reach for me, it’s only because of my SAT scores. If my standardized test scores were in their range, I think I’d have a much greater chance of acceptance.

If you raised your SAT score then you’d have a great chance of getting in. As it is however, I don’t think you’ll get accepted with that low of a SAT score.

@InvisibleMan
I think that community college comment was uncalled for. There are hundreds upon hundreds of quality four-year colleges that would give the OP a giant scholarship to attend. She’s an excellent student just not good with the SAT, which is understandable. Her SAT’s put her out of range for Penn, but there are plenty of top schools who would take her besides the Ivy League.

The community college advice was unwarranted - she’s clearly qualified to do university coursework. Nevertheless, her standardized test scores are simply too low for decent shot at any Ivy League school.

I think, based on her excellent grades, that she should give it a shot - but don’t count on it.
