I’m a junior at one of the hardest high schools in New Jersey currently enrolled in the IB Diploma Program. Freshman and sophomore year I was in almost all honors classes with around a 3.9 gpa overall. Junior year I am in all IB level classes (the most rigorous courses the school offers) with a 3.6 gpa, which I know is low, but my classes are very difficult. I plan on getting at least a 30 on the ACT and I also have tons community service hours, I’m a two sport athlete, will be captain of one of them, and I’m involved in a lot of leadership clubs, do I have any chance at Georgetown early decision? I think my chances are low for regular admissions, but if I applied early decision do I have a better chance?
First of all, there is no such thing as “Early Decision” at Georgetown; it’s Early Action. Second of all, Georgetown has a lower acceptance rate in the Early Action round.
Like anxiousenior1 said there’s no early decision and EA is harder to get into than RD. I was deferred with a 3.63 unweighted with almost the hardest possible schedule my schedule offered since freshman year 3 varsity sports for four years each and captain on each team senior year, over 100 community service hours per year, involved in some clubs but showed passion for all the ones I’m in, founded a nonprofit, and got a 33 on the act. That’s not to say you won’t get in but it’s really hard to get in early action no matter how qualified you may be. Best of luck though! Hoping you’re more successful than I was.
