What are my chances of getting in to WPI do you think?

GPA: 3.35
ACT: 31
Essay: Pretty well written and describes a big part of my life very well.
Recommendation: Physics Teacher I have had for 2 years and known before then
Recommendation: Band Director that I have known for 4 years

(I am a big member in the Band Program as a Webmaster and Officer)

I am applying for a Computer Science Major

Although my GPA isn’t the greatest it is mostly because of my Freshman and Sophomore year.
My GPA for my Junior year was a 3.9

I take challenging courses and am a year ahead in math and science.
I am taking 3 AP courses this year and am planning on taking 4 AP tests.
AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, AP Macro Economics.

I have visited the school for a tour as well to show interest in the school and have applied Earl Action I.

Oh also I do a lot of extracurriculars:
Chess Club (4 Years) Vice President (Sophomore - Junior) Secretary (Senior)
Physical Programming Club (2 Years) Vice President (Senior)
Band Officer (4 Years)
Brass Ensemble (2 Years) Organizer (Senior)
Tech Crew (4 Years)
JV Tennis (Freshman)
Varsity Tennis (Junior - Senior)
Track Team (Junior)

Your test scores and GPA should not and probably are not the only criteria for your admission. A computer could do the numerical job but if today’s computers made the selection without full knowledge of all the inputs the college would not have selected he best student body. AI does not function at that level yet in college admissions offices.

The most shinning part of your numerical description is the big rise in your GPA last year. Congratulations!

Does the school know that you know about the unique program and philosophy of the school? Does their philosophy mesh with your philosophy?

No one can precisely answer your question. It is more like an Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) searching for an answer that has no single solution.

Best of luck!I If they don’t pick you, the college may have missed the boat.

Thanks that means a lot. It was mostly Spanish that brought my grade down those first two years. I was awful and even with a tutor and constant studying I just barely passed that class. haha

I was deferred but am going to work super hard for Regular Decision!
