@Technut123 Hi, I’m a seventh grader who is looking to apply to boarding schools next year, and wow your profile is really impressive! I’m so freaked out about my interviews next fall… so I’d love some advice. You mentioned that your Andover interview was the best, and how long was your interview time? Just wondering cuz I’ve heard that 20 minutes is the standard interview time, but don’t interviewers who are interested in the student usually have a long interview? Anyways, best of luck to you; your chances seem high!
I believe that interview length also can depend on the time of year you choose to visit a school. When you walk into a HADES waiting room in November, there’s going to be 4-8 families waiting next to you. If you visit a school over the summer you may be with the AO for a longer period.
Our shortest, most rushed interview (10-12 minutes tops) was at the school with the lowest acceptance rate (9 percent for applicants needing FA). Kid was admitted.
Do NOT read too much into interview length!
