First of all, is it harder to get into Barnard than Wellesley? Here are my numbers:

SAT: 2250
GPA: 3.86
SAT II's: Chem 750, US History 760, Math2 780
Four AP classes junior year
Extracurrics:

President and Creator of Youth for Charity Club

Community Service for local library

Tons of charity fundraising

Involved in leadership position in school newspaper

Part of Varsity Girls' Tennis Team

So...what are my chances? Thanks to anyone who responds and a response from someone who already has been accepted by/ attends/ has attended Wellesley would be greatly appreciated.

My D applied to both Barnard and Wellesley. She did not get in to Barnard. She was waitlisted then admitted to Wellesley and is a student there. So I don’t know if it’s harder to get in to in general or just for my D.

Her unweighted GPA was about the same as yours. She did not take the SAT, just the ACT and her score wasn’t quite as high (according to an equivalent chart I consulted). Had 2 APs jr year and 3 her sr year (our school doesn’t offer a lot of AP classes). On the varsity tennis team all 4 years; school newspaper; tons of community service, musician, dancer, etc.

Your stats look to be in ballpark for admitted students, but then so did my D’s. Sometimes it might come down to the essay or they already have admitted a cello-playing ballerina with higher stats in early decision and they’re trying to build a diverse freshman class.

Good luck in your application process!

I would say it might be marginally harder to get into Barnard, but with your credentials I wouldn’t be concerned. Good luck!

It seemed to me like kind of a toss-up, over the period I was looking at it.
Barnard admitted a little lower %, but Wellesley students that matriculated had a little higher stats on average. Maybe they were looking for different things, to an extent, hard to say.

I have not looked at results from the most recent few admissions cycles though.

Both schools are a bit different so it’s hard to say. Your stats are really strong, so good luck! Barnard’s a bit unpredictable with admissions. I’ve had friends get into school with lower acceptance rates but got rejected by Barnard.
