I actually wasn’t planning on checking out any Ivy Leagues, but after a friend told me about her sister (who is currently attending Brown), I decided to consider it. If I chose to apply to it, it would be the most competitive college on my list.
I currently have mostly straight A’s (with a few B+'s; my worst grade is one B in a class I was struggling in for one semester), about a 3.75 GPA (I’m not really sure what it is, this is just estimation from my grades as I go to a French-American high school where GPAs are, I guess, calculated differently. Either way, I was never told what it was, although I’m sure I could ask), a 2070 superscore for the SATs (took it twice) (Brown allows superscoring, THANK GOD), and I’m completing an International Baccalaureate, along with my high school diploma, at the end of my senior year (which hopefully makes up for the fact that I could not take AP classes because I chose the International Baccalaureate program).
Based on this information (very general, I know), what would be my chances of getting into Brown?
Thank you!
I don’t think you can make into any of the Ivies. Your grades are okay but not stellar, test scores are really weak, and you didn’t mention anything about extracurriculars.
Unless you have a very pronounced hook, it’s going to be a very steep climb at Brown-- best.
outlooker, how is a 2070 “really weak”? I know that standards for Ivies are usually very high, but it’s not like I got a 1600.
@gracefullygauche search common data set brown university and scroll down to freshman class profile where the 25th to 75th percentile scores for the sat are listed then factor in that anything below 30th to 40th percentile is reserved for hooked applicants like athletes URM special kids etc. Now if you are lower than the 25th percentile only a miracle can get you in or the app will be kicked out without a look like it normally is with those scores.
