Sorry I hate these posts, but I just want to ease my anxiety about this process.
I have a 4.35 weighted GPA and 3.9 unweighted. I will have taken 14 APs by graduation. I’m 6th in my class of 220.
I have a 1420 composite SAT score, however I’m aiming for above 1450.
Extracurriculars: President of the Speech and Debate team - ranked #6 in California, top 40 in the nation
Captain of the Mock Trial Team, 2nd place two years in a row
Co-Captain of the Varsity Golf team and #5 in the count
President of the American Youth in Politics Club, the World Affairs Committee, and GSA.
I volunteer at my local hospital and I’m a college peer counselor.
I am an Intern/ Speech writer at City Hall. I worked as a staffer at a local mayoral campaign.
My personal statement is solid and I’m a decent writer.
Thanks so much, anything helps. Brown is a dream school and I plan on applying ED this semester.
Brown is a reach for anyone and many people with great stats (including 7 out of 10 valedictorians) are rejected. You will get a boost by applying ED, so if it’s your dream school, go for it. Just have a list of matches and safeties in case it doesn’t work out.
Just as @Emsmom1 said, Brown is certainly a reach school for all applicants. I think that if you boost your SAT to 1450 or even 1500, you would increase your chances by a fair margin!
thanks so much, thats the goal!
14 APs is significantly more than I’ve seen from other people applying to Ivy’s, so Brown will commend you on that. And a 3.9 with those 14 is really strong, it shows you are ready for almost anything. You have a decent shot, just convey how badly you want in (I can tell you want it; you’re anxious and that’s always a sign of someone really wanting something). Good luck
If you don’t get in, I don’t think the rest of us even have a chance
