<p>I don't see anything that separates you from everyone else applying ED. I would say 20% if that. And thats with the sibling graduating from Cornell. It also depends on what college you apply to. If you are applying to CAS I would say less then 5% or basically a no</p>
<p>She went to human ecology. I am applying there too. I'm a little suprised that I only have a 20% chance.....most of the people i've spoken to and my guidance counselor said I'll almost definitely get in....however, thanks for your input.</p>
<p>I gave you a 20% because I am going on what I've been told by interviewers, friends (I showed yer profile to a friend of mine at cornell already and he said I was being generous by giving you a 20% he agreed that nothing separates you from other people and that you should aim lower also because none of your ECs really show that your interests belong to CSHE) B/c for CAS they are a lot tougher about rank unless you have a hook. My public high school is ranked by cornell as one of top schools in the country and an admissions officer from CAS came to visit us. He said that Livingston High School was an exception to the rule but CAS rarely excepts people not in the top 10% unless you have a hook. At my alumni interview the same thing was stated to me, but I was told that because I go to Livingston High School, they would treat my rank percentage at least 3% higher automatically putting me in the 10%. My CHinese teacher also has connections to Cornell so I met with the CHinese Professor, Professor Mehta (she rules I hope I have her next year) and basically she told me the same thing, and she told me that next august I'm going to have to take the Cornell Chinese Placement test even though I took the CHinese SAT 2 already. ARGHHH 3 placements tests -_-</p>

<p>well in general the privately endowed schools think that rank is important but not as important as the gpa behind it and the classes behind the gpa. But I don't know that much about engineering because I don't want to go to that school.</p>
<p>I definitely don't think you are guaranteed to get in. Your stats are basically average (EC's might even be on the weak side). I'd put your chances at around 50%. Good luck.</p>
<p>Hmmm your's is tough because you have really good everything.......BUT.....and here's the big but. Cornell and Columbia though they say they aren't biased against private schools, they really are. Because in their minds all the good private schools only have ap classes so its not like you chose to take the classes, you had to. But It depends on the makeup of the class. Cornell CAS is weird because unlike other colleges they make exceptions. One of my friends last year was that 1% of the CAS class that didn't make 10% (he was 15%). So I would say apply ea or ed to Yale or Princeton because they are number schools. They use the AI religiously and unlike a lot of kids AI will work for you</p>
<p>hmmm...interesting. I missed the top 10% by .04. I talked to the admissions officer of human ecology when I visited Cornell today and he said it didn't really matter....they'll see how rigorous my curriculum is and they'll see I go to one of the top schools in the state. But i do agree my ec's are a little weak...i'm hoping to join a couple more clubs this week like model UN and Math & Science Club or something. I'd also like to add that I scored above 100 in the AMC or AME or whatever and qualified for the next round, which is pretty big. And I'm taking the SATS again, and I think I can score in the high 1400's. Also, I work at a Medical office (I dunno if this will help though or if I should mention it on my application) Anyway, thanks for the reply.</p>
