Hi, I’m gonna be a senior this year and I was wondering how my chances were with LMU. My GPA isn’t great compared to my classmates because I go to an insanely competitive school. (Even a 4.0 won’t get you in the top 10%) I was even more disappointed because I have two Ds on my transcript from AP Chemistry and AP Calculus. I do have some problems that probably contributed to the grades and I plan on explaining them in my essay, but I’m not sure if the admissions counselors will really focus on that.
I have a 3.6 GPA and a 1480 SAT. (I’m not sure if I should retake it or not)
I’ve also taken SAT Korean and I plan on taking one on Bio.
I have some extracurriculars:
I was VP of two organizations, I’ve been in JROTC throughout high school. Outside of school, I teach kids at the local Korean School, and I’ve been helping disabled people at my church worship. I’ve also done Special Olympics for three years. I’ve also done a communications internship with an advertising company and I’ve also done a networking program at USC. Anything helps!
Your SAT is above the 75th percentile based on last year’s Freshman profile and your GPA is just below the average of 3.75. I believe LMU is a Match if you write some great essays and have some equally good LOR’s. You have solid EC’s and your internship will definitely make you stand out. Best of luck.
