I’m going to be a senior this next year and I’m looking for colleges to go to in California preferably. I want to go into filmmaking and acting when I’m older, as well as study business. LMU struck me as a school I really like with these fields, but I don’t know if I could get in. I got a 2.8 freshman year, a 2.9 sophomore year, and a 3.8 my junior year…not because I wasn’t trying for the first two years but because I struggle with ADHD and I didn’t really have a grip on it. I’m hoping to get a 3.8-4.0+ this next year so I can boost my over all gpa up. I got a 1200 on the PSAT, and I’m hoping to get a 1300 on the actual one that I’m doing in October. My resume is about 4 pages long because I’ve done a ton of volunteer work and activity work so I’m hoping that could provide some extracurricular substance to my applications. I know LMU really pushes academics, and I am very serious about school…the huge problem is my first two years. Any thoughts?
Hi, wish I could help you with chances but I only have my daughter as an example and she had a 3.7+ GPA. She applied to (and was admitted, with a scholarship) to the BA Theater program. I suspect that her acting resume helped her get that scholarship, but I can’t actually say for sure, but maybe your theater resume, if you have one, could help your admission chances. Also as a Jesuit school, I would think that LMU would value service work.
The film school is very competitive to get in. Non majors can take film school classes but I’m not sure if you have to officially add a minor to do that, my daughter added a screenwriting minor. I’m not sure if this is easy though, I seem to recall that she had to really work to make that happen.
Good luck! Hope you get other responses, if you decided to apply and maybe applied EA?
