I'm going to take the ACT in a week and retake the SAT soon so hopefully my scores will be higher.

But based on my current scores, GPA, and extracurricular activities, what are my chances of getting accepted to MHC?

Regular Queens is a safety but Macaulay? Not nearly as much of a chance as you would regular Queens. Macaulay students are usually students that couldn’t afford to attend the “reach-for-anyone” schools.

With your scores as they are right now, I think Macaulay would be very hard pressed to accept you. You have a math-CR composite score of 1060. They look for around 1400.

If you got your SAT scores at least into the 1300 range (math+CR composite), you could have a decent chance of getting in since your GPA is high and you seem to be involved in things outside of school. 1400+ should definitely be your goal as the average for the incoming class is always around there, and the admissions officers do care about being able to tout those high numbers so definitely aim for that.

However, don’t think if you get that target score you’ll automatically be in, you’re going to need to work hard on your essays put in some of your best work. Don’t skimp on them.

So basically, getting your sat score up should be #1 priority if you really want to be accepted by Macaulay, then essays and everything else. Don’t forget the Dec. 1st deadline either.

Not to put you down or anything, but they accept less than 2 percent of kids with SAT scores lower than 1250 (CR & M) try taking the ACT, they accept it and it’s a little easier. However, the application is holistic so you might get accepted if all other components of your application are strong. Good luck

Based on my recent test scores, I definitely will need that luck. I retook the SAT and took the ACT for the first time. My second SAT scores were the following:
CR: 530
Math:530
Writing:720
My ACT composite was a 25 (really bad, I know). I understand that my test scores aren’t high enough but I also believe that they are not a true reflection of my capabilities. I really hope I won’t be receiving a letter of rejection in a few months.
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

I was also wondering whether or not the CUNY locations to which you apply make a difference in acceptance to Macaulay? I applied to Queens, Hunter, City, and John Jay.
