I am a rising senior and I plan on majoring in computer science.
SAT: 1080
ACT: 20
GPA (W) 4.33
(UW)3.46
Class Rank: not sure of the exact rank but in the top 20/150
60+ volunteer hours
I have a job
2 AP classes, I plan on taking 2 more this year.
I have been taking college classes (4 so far). I plan on taking 2 more.
I am Hispanic and a first generation student.
I know my ACT and SAT scores are not the brightest, I have only taken both tests once. I plan on prioritizing these tests to raise my probability.
What is your advice on the SAT and ACT because I am not simply not doing well. I am more than willing to put several hours to study, but I need to know how you guys do it. Do you study a certain book? I can’t afford tutors.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Will you be an in-state or out-of-state applicant?
In terms of test preparation, you might try Khan Academy: https://www.khanacademy.org/. I have no direct or indirect knowledge about it, but it is free. You might also try to speak with your high school guidance counselor early in the Fall Semester to discuss what you can do to maximize your application, including a discussion of whether you should apply EA or RD (perhaps more time will allow you to boost your test scores, which might suggest an RD application); but I would have that discussion with your guidance counselor sooner rather than later.
I am an in-state applicant. I sent her an e-mail and she said I have a good chance (even after I asked her to be brutally honest) however, she said she would like to see my SAT and/or ACT scores up.
EDIT: on my SAT i actually made a 1160 not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless
