I would like to know if I could get into NYU and Fordham with my Resume and my chances of getting a Scholarship. I'm constantly searching for other resumes to match mine but this would help me better locate things I need before I apply.

Also another question i've been thinking about. As you can see I have a low SAT score, and I'm going to ED into this school. The Deadline is November 1 which means I only have 1 more SAT to take before my application, and i'm not sure if it will be enough even with the new SAT score. My quesiton is should I ED into NYU with my scores that I have with the upcoming test or should I Regular Decision with the chance that my scores will be higher due to more time and tests for SAT. It would be great if you guys could help me out with this.

This is pretty much everything that I have done over my high school years. I would really appreciate it if you guys told me what you thought, and what I can do to increase my chances. Thank you so much :)

If you have any questions please fire away. :)

NYU gives the worst need-based aid. Can you afford NYU if you get in. I believe you have a good chance to get inyo NYU ED if you can bring up your SAT score.

Are you applying to NYU Early Decision I (Nov 1) or Early Decision II? If you apply early decision II (deadline Jan 1), you would be able to submit another SAT score (Nov. or Dec. test date) in case your Oct. score isn’t to your liking. NYU early decision II and regular decision deadline is the same; however, early decision II applicants receive a response by mid-Feb.

NYU stats (I couldn’t find one on the actual school website. They may have class profiles that are undergraduate school specific, but I couldn’t find a general one.): <a href=“New York University Overview | CollegeData”>http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg01_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=436

NYU Scholarships: <a href=“Aid and Costs”>Aid and Costs;
There are also school-specific scholarships. For first three scholarships listed (university wide) all applicants are automatically considered.

AnBryce Scholarship(NYU):

Fordham class of 2017 profile: http://www.fordham.edu/admissions/undergraduate_admiss/applying/class_profile_28473.asp (Your SAT score is below the 25th percentile).

Fordham restrictive scholarships: http://www.fordham.edu/tuition__financial_a/undergraduate_studen/scholarship_search/fordham_university_r/

You meet the GPA requirement for entering freshmans for each, but I don’t know exactly what each scholarship entails.

If you/your parents have not already run a net price calculator for these schools then here are the links:
<a href=“Estimate Your Cost”>Estimate Your Cost;
http://www.fordham.edu/tuition__financial_a/undergraduate_studen/financial_aidnet_pri_80244.asp

Are you planning on taking the ACT at all? The ACT could possibly be a better test for you.

Thanks a lot for the reply I greatly appreciate, and yes I’m going to try the next test in September and hope that I do a lot better on this rather than SAT. And I’m planning on ED 1 in November. What would I have to score on SAT or ACT to get in? I’m thinking a 2000 on SAT and a 29 or 30 for ACT even though doing so will be very difficult

I can’t pay for the college if I don’t get a scholarship, won’t they give me any merit or different type of scholarship?

No problem, I’m glad to help! I am not an admissions counselor, so I cannot say what you would need to get in. I would say aim to do your absolute best first and foremost and start studying for those tests now if possible. Also, try to aim to get your scores possibly above or within the 50th percentile. Don’t forget that your GPA and test scores are only part of the admissions process. You should attempt to write spectacular or well-written essays.

Did you run a net price calculator to see what your expected family financial contribution would be?

Here are some resources to use (apply to some other schools aside from NYU and Fordam).

Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships: <a href=“Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1461983-competitive-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-p1.html

Automatic scholarships based on test scores and grades: <a href=“Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html

If you do decide to apply to some of the schools on either of those threads, talk to your guidance counselor about getting an application fee waiver.

Here’s an ACT diagnostic test you can take to see where you are currently at: http://media.act.org/documents/preparing.pdf

SAT diagnostic: <a href=“Downloadable Full-Length SAT Practice Tests – SAT Suite”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board;

it said 40k of financial aid. Leaves 21k but since I’m not boarding I’m cutting 16k from there. So I think it’s 5k with the net price calculator

I’ll look into the diagnostics, I’ll take a few before the real thing and hopefully be set

Did that include the Pell grant? Would paying 5K yearly be a burden for your parents?

Do you already have the SAT blue book or the ACT red book to study with?

They’ve been paying a lot for my high school so I would probably have to pay it, they won’t help me with it. And also I have to buy them I have not yet

The pell grant?

Its financial aid from the government that does not have to be paid back.

https://studentaid.ed.gov/types/grants-scholarships/pell

You may end up qualifying for it.Did the NYU net price calculator already include any federal grants?
