I know there have been a plethora of similar questions on this forum about the difficulty to get into NYU especially into the College of Arts and Sciences. However, I'm really thinking about doing the early decision (I'm a Junior in high school) and doing everything necessary to increase my chances of getting in because NYU really is the one school I truly want to attend. Anyway, due to my dad's job I transferred schools after freshman year so my classes were pretty mixed. For example, had I stayed in my previous high school I would have been in Honors Lit sophomore year but due to changing schools, I was placed in CP English (I never dropped below a 98% in that class and even ended up exceeding 100% due to extra credit). Only now are my classes really starting to reflect what I can do. Either way, both my high schools were high ranking schools. My current high school (and one I've attended the longest) was recently named as a School of Excellence. I'm not sure if this will help me in any way but I thought I'd throw it out there.

GPA/Schedule:

Freshman year: 3.4-3.6 (I can't exactly remember) unweighted
Sophomore year: 3.83 unweighted
Junior year schedule and current grades:

Theology - 91%

AP English - 95%

HN US History - 91%

HN Biology - 81% (I plan on raising this)

CP Chemistry - 96%

CP Algebra 2 - 79% (I will most definitely be raising my grade.)

HN French 3 - 88%

Web Design - 98% (2nd Semester Web Design will be replaced with Intro to Art)

EC's:

Gymnastics (9th grade)

Mock Trial (9th grade)

Singing Lessons (10th grade)

As for junior year, I may be doing gymnastics again.

I have yet to take my SAT/ACT so obviously, I don't have a score yet. I really want to get a high score, though, so I was thinking about getting a SAT/ACT tutor. The only thing is I'm not sure it'll actually help?

My question is: as of right now (although rough to determine given I haven't taken the tests yet and Junior year has just begun), do I have a small chance at getting in? If not, what advice could you guys give me to improve my chances of getting in be it Early Decision or not? And should I hire a SAT/ACT tutor or simply take my chances?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated! :)
