I am currently a freshman at the university of Hartford finishing my first semester. I am planning on applying by the end the second semester. I was very lazy in high school which resulted in me having a 2.3 g.p.a which I know is terrible.
So far after my first semester these are my grades:
Intro to Film- 94
Philosophy- Around a 92 (My grades in this class haven’t been finalized yet but I doubt they will drop)
Making the Self (My first year seminar)- 94
Sources of Power (required class)- 95
Calculus- 85
I’m not sure if this would get me on the deans list or not but my gpa is a lot better than it was in high school.
My SAT’s were a 1770/2400 and a 1200/1600
I have not take any ACT’s
Next semester I am taking two film courses and an honors writing course along with an accounting class and a class on western studies.
I would appreciate any feedback given to me, thanks.
Update: It turns out I’m finishing the semester with an A- in calculus. I’m getting a 90 in the class.
I am a current film and tv student, but I may be possibly wrong on certain aspects since of course I am not on the admissions committee. But I have been through the application process and are aware of what my peers submitted also.
But anyway I’ll be begin by saying this; Tisch does care about your GPA and SAT scores, however they do not hold those scores to the same regard as other schools at NYU. The main focus is your portfolio and application. If your essays stand out and if your portfolio displays that you are capable of telling a story then most definitely you will be considered. However grades and scores are still very important, people with above average scores will have their application glanced over first but that does not mean applicants with the highest scores get admitted. You can be a genius but if you do not show talent then Tisch will have no problem rejecting you.
In all honesty it is a difficult program to get in, the current freshman class contains a little under 300 students. Considering how many people apply its very competitive.
Good Luck!
