i only took 1 sat and i got a 1590 - im taking them again in june and i have a private tutor now so that should go up

this is a short film i made

YouTube - Lenny and Me

im currently writing one with dialogue and stuff and im filming it at the end of may so that probably will be the one ill submit

i put ALOT of info on here hahah but im like reallly nervous about applying next year

The problem with answering this question for any program where an audition or portfolio is required is that we don’t know how great your submission will be. Half the decision at Tisch is based on academics and half is based on school-specific materials (audition, portfolio, etc)…Even if you had A+ on every grade and awesome SATs, there would still be a great big question mark…All you can do is submit your application and see what happens. Good luck!

You will have to have a stellar portfolio to get in with those grades and anything close to that SAT score. I believe Tisch is interested in candidates who are talented both artistically and academically, and trust me man, you will be up against competition that is certainly strong in both areas. You havent done your portfolio yet, so when you do, my recommendation is to do something different; the video you posted was very similar to alot of the stuff i have seen from tisch applicants: artsy, cutesy, saying nothing and having nothing to say. Make something interesting. Make something that makes people think. Make something that shows your talents to tell a story in a very strong way visually. Demonstrate your technical prowess as well. Your video needs to stand out, because academically you are on the lower end of the spectrum. Because Tisch is so strong in film, the strongest applicants in the country who are interested in film apply there.

I’d never tell someone not to apply, but get over 1800 on your SAT and straight A’s for this year and first semester next year and you’d have a lot better of a chance. My friend got in with a 1790, but she had amazing extracurriculars, a great porfolio, a great essay, she showed independent initative, and she had a 3.96 GPA. You really should take some APs next year too, provided they are offered at your school. Tisch is the most competitive film school in the country, it’s not like they’re just going to not consider your grades.

I got in this year; i figured id link my portfolio in case you wanted to take a look at it:

Though, to be fair, my grades were very good, so im not saying this is an accurate depiction of what is necessary to get into Tisch. I felt my portfolio was the weakest part of my application when applying, but my video has won a fair amount of awards since getting accepted, so its really up to you to decide how much of a factor it was. Feel free to message me if you have any questions of any sort, lately ive been coming here from time to time out of boredom and nostalgia so i should be around to answer them.
