What are my chances of getting into Penn State?

I am from out of state, applying to University Park campus.

GPA- 91.5 approx a 3.65

ACT- 26 composite

I have strong EC's but am aware PSU doesn't really consider those, and attend a private catholic high school which is very highly ranked, if that means or helps anything at all.

Also, if anyone has an idea of what my chances would be of being admitted directly to the Business School.

Thanks !

I’m looking at the Smeal College of Business too! My brother was admitted his first year at Penn State and just recently graduated with his masters in accounting. Competition is pretty tough for the business school, as it is one of the top in the country. Overall I would say you have a decent chance. Penn State looks more heavily at GPA as opposed to SAT/ACT, although scores are still important.

App comes out September 1st. Good Luck!

Oh I also forgot to mention that for the business school you have to have taken one-half (1/2) credit of trigonometry (required for admission to Smeal College) and they recommend you take as many years of a foreign language as possible.

Lastly they also recommend that you take advanced course work that enhances your oral and written communication skills. Those two skills are valuable to success in college as well as after graduation in business and industry.

I’d say it depends on the applicant pool. To be safer, honestly I would apply under the DUS (undecided) banner. That’s what I did. If admitted, you can still go into any program (minus nursing and architecture) from the undecided program assuming you meet the same entrance to major requirements as everyone else in the major.
