Hey SHAD alumni! I’m curious on what my chances might be of getting accepted into Shad. I am in Grade 10 at an IB school in British Columbia. I only found about about SHAD after the deadline for 2017 so I am planning to apply for SHAD 2018. My grades are at an average of 93, although I do take challenging courses (Pre-IB, IB Math HL 11, Chemistry 12). Last school year my average was around 88 although I took Grade 11 and 12 courses as a Grade 9. Will this affect the selection process should I decide to apply? Regarding academic accomplishments I did get a gold medal in the Vancouver Regional Science Fair, qualified for the CMO (Top 50 COMC) twice (2015,2016), and top 1% in the Michael Smith Science Challenge. As far as extracurriculars, in school I am the foudner/head of our NHS chapter and chief editor of the school newsletter. Out of school, I’m a competitive swimmer and I got a bronze medal in the national championships. I also play the Alto Saxophone, and got 2nd in the provincial championship. Volunteer-wise I am a swimming instructor assistant and staff member of the Vancouver Math association that organizes math contests in the city. I apologize for the paragraph, but if I apply, would they accept me?
