What are my chances of getting into SUNY plattsburgh, buffalo state, alfred state and morrisville?

I have a 2.2 gpa, no extracurriculars and no recommendations. Took an AP class but miserably failed it for the most part.

I’m guessing you’re a junior? the good news is that you still have lots of time to work on that GPA.

And to do well on the SATS. If your GPA Isn’t particularly noteworthy, then it can be a real help.

And to work on your essay. It’s the one part of the app that can really showcase WHO you are.

And to work on those recommendations. They don’t have to be from teachers whose class you excelled in. You can get a strong letter from a teacher who can attest to your work ethic, to your tenacity, to all those other qualities that make you who you are.

OK, none of that is what you asked me, so let me address your question.

I don’t know what my daughter’s cumulative GPA is; I would guess that her cumulative average is some where on in the high 70’s.

She got into Morrisville, Delhi, and Buffalo State.

A few other ideas to run by you:

Also, consider some of the community colleges in NY that have dorms; those were my daughter’s safeties. Take a look at Herkimer, Adirondack, Sullivan and Tompkins-Cortland.

Actually my high school career is all said and done. I had 2 recommendations at the time but I didn’t apply right after high school so I lost my chance to use them. But I appreciate the response regardless.

OK. Are you working? Can you get any recommendations from a boss?

And contact your high school, asking at guidance about your situations. If you’re not too far removed from high school, those letters of rec may still be on file and valid.

The reality is that not everyone hits their stride on schedule. I’ve taught any number of kids who didn’t have spectacular results in high school, but then grew into themselves and did great in college and afterwards.

OK, gotta run and get the troups up. I’ll check back later.
