What are my chances of getting into UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced, and UC Riverside?

I have been extremely stressed about my college applications.

I am a Mexican-American student, who is also gay.
I applied as a History major..will that increase my chances since these schools aren't known for their history departments?

I have a 3.68 Weighted GPA, have taken Honors classes, but no AP classes.

My GPA for Junior year was 3.8 the Fall Semester and a 4.0 the Spring Semester

Right now, in my Senior year, I am taking Regular English 12, Regular Economics and Government, Painting, and a 4th year math class.

I have taken..
4 Years of Social Studies (Geography, World History, US History, and US Government)
4 Years of English (Honors American Literature)
4 Years of Math (Algebra 1-2, Geometry, and Business Statistics)
3 Years of Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology)
2 Academic Electives (Introduction to Psychology and Economics)
1 Visual and Performing Art (Painting)
3 Years of Foreign Language (Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and Spanish 3)

My highest SAT score is a 1260 and ACT score is a 16..I know they're really bad..

My Extracurricular Activities:
Part-Time job at Togo's Sandwiches since last year (11th Grade Summer-12th Grade)
Peer College Counselor (12th Grade)
President of "Got College?" Club (12th Grade)
Peer Tutor for History (12th Grade)
Volunteer for many events/places since the 9th grade

I applied every year for Student Government but was denied every time, I made an effort to join many organizations but wasn't given the opportunity to :(

I felt that my personal statements were strong as 3 college counselors read it over and helped make it the best thing possible.

Anyways, what are my chances of getting into either UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, and UC Merced ?
Thanks!

Riverside should have already given the decision, i got mine. im horrible at chancing, sorry ! :p

UCR started notifying people on the 14th and said not to be discouraged if you’re not notified on that day …so hopefully :)

I’m sorry, but I think your test scores are going to really hurt your chances of getting in, unless your high school has an agreement with some of those schools your chances are diminished.

UC Merced is a fairly new school, so look up! You have a good chance of getting accepted there even with your scores.

I have done extensive research on it, but what do you think about my chances for UC Riverside?

Unless your are ELC, I agree with those above - your test scores will keep you out of the UC system altogether.

Read about ELC here:
[Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) Program | UCOP](<a href=“Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs | UCOP”>Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs | UCOP)

I hope you qualify.

Good luck.

There’s an ongoing thread of UCR acceptances where people are posting their stats. You can check that for comparison:
<a href=“UC Riverside Class of 2018 Accepted Thread - University of California - Riverside - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-riverside/1604740-uc-riverside-class-of-2018-accepted-thread-p1.html</a></p>

I agree with everyone else that your test scores might hurt your chances for admission at some of the UCs. However, you should have a good chance of getting into UC Merced!

I think your test scores might hurt you but have you been denied school government and organizations because you’re gay? Then write about in your essay. They will see that you tried but they dent allow you. I think you should get in Riverside and Merced.

Chance me please? <a href=“Chances to get into Yale, Brown, Tufts, Emory, NYU, Georgetown, George Washington - #11 by LBad96 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>Chances to get into Yale, Brown, Tufts, Emory, NYU, Georgetown, George Washington - #11 by LBad96 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

I honestly believe you have a fairly okay chance for all of them. Sure, your academic stats are low, but you are also a very unique person with a lot of efforts in helping the community. I’m not sure what you wrote about, but if you wrote about your job, community service, and efforts in trying to get into leadership roles, the schools should love you. You might’ve written about your coming out as or growing up as a homosexual. These are all great topics that I have actually seen first hand push some underprivileged high school students into even the Ivies. True story: a boy I know is very underprivileged, with an unappreciative family. He studies hard and works hard at a job. He had dismal GPAs and SATs, but in his very personal essay, he talked about his efforts to become better as an academic individual and his hardships in managing jobs and school at the same time.

I do hope you have written about any of the above topics, then you should have a great chance in getting in to all of the schools. However, even if you haven’t, Merced should be a match. Good luck!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1613118-chances-for-brown-u-of-rochester-amherst-and-u-of-michigan-ann-arbor.html?new=1</a></p>

UCM: Match
UCR: High Match
UCSC: Low Reach
Its the low test scores
