^Mathcountser asked a good question. Being in-state or out-of-state definitely has alot to do with your admission chances for UC schools.

Your SAT IIs are impressive. Your SAT I is average for UCSD and UCI, slightly above average for UCSB, and well above average for UCD.

You have a great shot at all these schools, and will probably be admitted to most, if not all, of them (especially if you’re a Californian!).

With your stats, why not try applying to UCLA and UCB? They’re both reaches, but I think you’ve got a decent shot, especially if you raise your SAT I score. Of course, it’s your option, but if it’s a UC school you want, those two are on a different level.

Anyways, I’d say safety for UCD, and good fit for UCSD, UCSB, and UCI. Also, I would definitely not go to UCD if you’re out of state, as College Board reports that only 3% of the student body is from outside California.

and thanks for the reply!
I have been very nervous about college stuff these days since schools are starting to be harder to get into… I was scared I wouldn’t get into any of these schools since my grades deproved from soph year to junior year…

do you guys have any suggestions on improving for my SAT I (esp CR)?

Does your school offer many higher level classes? For UCs, you need to have taken at least close to your schools most challenging classes. You need to calculate your UC GPA for proper feedback, the UC Pathways website will tell you how.

And please kids, don’t spread myth. The mid tier UCs very much want OOS students who pay them over $50K/yr. All UCs are now looking to increase OOS enrollment and at the mid tiers, which don’t see a lot of OOS interest, being OOS is now an advantge.

@ Redroses: my school offers at most 10-15 APS (4 of which are language ones).
Also, I went onto the UC website about how to calculate my UC GPA. It says I cannot have more than 8 semesters of and Honors/ AP class. Does that mean soph year and junior combined? If so, my UC GPA is exactly a 4.0

^ Could be that at UCB, UCLA, and to an extent UCSD, 4.0 GPA is sort of a given, and EC’s and essays may play a larger role in terms of “chances”.

yes. i know that a 4.0 is not exactly the best GPA for those 2 schools.
My ECs are:
swimming (freshman & soph year) (JV captain soph year)
water polo (soph - senior year) <– plan to still do it (got coach recognition soph year)
national chinese honor society (was PR, next year will be VP)
california scholarship federation (member)
photo club (member)
Red Cross (member, was activities coordinator soph year)
piano (7th grade- senior yr)
chinese school (graduated soph year)

i’m still thinking about what i should write on my essays because I think the ones I have in mind right now are not unique enough

i just submitted my UC app but I realized that I forgot to put 2 academic awards that I got; instead, I put 2 sports awards. Would this affect my chances of getting into the UCs that I want to get into?
