You have about as good a shot at MHC Baruch as anyone, I’d say about a match. The others will most likely be reaches.

Cheers,

With a higher SAT score and great essays you’d have a decent (better) chance at Columbia/Penn. Macaulay Honors at Baruch you’re definitely in; in fact you might be selling yourself a little short by going to CUNY unless you’re confident you want to do business and go to college debt-free, which is of course a great thing.

Be advised CUNY implemented a waiting list as of May 21. If you find yourself waitlisted, teach yourself the subject matters of all the general requirements.

You can do this with all the books you can buy and check out at libraries. You can turn the wait into a benefit. If done right while you wait for admission, You will be multiple steps ahead of your classmates, and you will be 5 times more likely to have a GPA in the 3.7-4.0 range.

If for example, your professor assigns a research paper on a specific topic about the Civil War (corrupt military contractors, emancipation as a military strategy, etc), and you have read books ahead of time on the subject in its entirety, you will already know exactly what search terms to use in your College library’s database, and it should take you 4 days at most to locate all relevant sources.

If you want to major in criminal justice/law related fields, buy all the books you can: these books are written by lawyers. Read books such as: The Nine, and everything you can about the US Supreme court. For criminal law topics, read books by lawyers like Gerry Spence, etc.

What I find on websites like ratemyprofessors is that so many students don’t like to read. Any way this plays out, you can turn your wait into a benefit: the more reading you do ahead of time, the easier your life will be at College.

If there’s a will there’s a way, and the more CUNY colleges you apply the better your chances.
