i have As in all of them except AP calculus but im working on improving my grade
my unweighted GPA is 3.8 and my current ranking is 9/411
SAT- 1160
ACT-23

so i guess i must explain that i was home schooled my 10th and half of 11th year that is why the list of classes i took is not the same as the others. i have a physical disability and i needed surgery starting 10th grade and went back to school second semester of 11th. Also because of the surgery and being home schooled i did not do many school activities like join clubs and could not take AP classes but now that i have recovered i am in 3 clubs and will be in leadership next semester. For AP human geography i got a 4 on the AP test. i know my SAT and ACT scores are pretty average but i am taking them again.
so based on this what are my chances for Stanford? i also will apply to UCLA and USC.

Your coursework looks decent, but… That ACT is going to kill you. Really work on getting that up by like, 10 points or more. ECs would also help in evaluating your chances. You have a good story with the disability, but I’m not sure it’s enough.

@SatellaCx to be perfectly honest, you would have to have an incredibly compelling story and/or extraordinary skill to get into Stanford in general. It is simply one of, if not the most, competitive undergraduate university in the country.

As far as test stats, less than 1% of last year’s admitted freshman had a 23 or lower on the ACT. only 12% had a 29 or lower - and that includes athletes, working actors, published authors, young tycoons etc. etc. - any extra-exceptional kid who has an amazing resume but might not test well.

So, while it is not impossible, it would be really smart to make a wide range of schools, and include some where your stats are in the upper 50 - 75% percentile of applicants. The competitive college application process at most schools means many deserving applicants won’t get into schools where they would thrive. So make sure you include schools where your stats will make you stand out - as well as some real reaches.
