What are my chances of recieving financial aid at NYU?

My parents make a combined total yearly income of $117,000. When I am a freshman in college (2 1/2 years; I am a high school sophomore), I will have a sister that is a sophomore in college and a brother who is a high school freshman. Would I be likely to be given financial aid because of my family's yearly income and because of the fact that my family will have a child in high school and two children in college?

I have read that NYU's average financial aid package is around $29,000 per student. Would I be likely to get a large portion of that? Also, they offer need-based grants/scholarships, usually around $19,000 per student. Do you think I could get any financial aid, scholarships, or grants? And do they offer more than one of these? (ex. Financial Aid and Grant/Scholarship to one student) Thank you very much.

NYU and financial aid don’t belong in the sentence. If you spend a couple minutes searching this forum, you’ll find that NYU is notorious for providing nonexistent packages. NYU heavily practices preferential packaging, which means that they will only give you enough to attend if they really, really want you and you are at the top of their applicant pool.

[New York University Tuition, Costs and Financial Aid - CollegeData College Profile](http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg03_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=436)

You’re right that the average grant aid is 20k, and that average package is 29k-- but the average amount of need met is 59%. So most people have only a little more than half of their need met-- which is to say, it would be almost impossible to attend without a heavy dose of private loans. With a family income of 100k+, even with two in college, it is probable that you would not receive a significant amount of aid. When you get a chance, run the net price calculator for NYU.

I clicked on this thread to see the response. Obviously the OP is a newbie.

I thought this may have been my own son writing this. I have a son who is a sophomore in high school, my wife and I make about $117,000/year and I have a daughter who is a sophomore in college. I do not have any more kids though.
Using the net price calculator we would get $9,000 in aid and I would have to pay $50,000 for my son to attend at 2011/2012 rates.
No NYU for us.
